Not great with such important games coming up, Hendo already out and we're looking light in midfield. Allen and Lucas are the obvious 2 but Stewart in with a shout for games.
Massive loss. Our player of the season IMO. We should play the diamond now - Stewart DM, Coutinho and Allen in the middle and Firmino number 10.
Not for me. He made first goal but when passed to deep he seems ponderous. Any loss like this is big. 4 weeks means him and genders on will struggle to make final if we are fortunate to get there.
Joe Allen to the rescue! He was superb the other night and he's been good every time he's come off the bench recently so fully deserves his chance. Would have preferred a Can and Allen partnership but never mind.
Has Can even been that great this season ?! Nah, seen comments on here, vids on the web lauding the guy like he's Viera or Alonso or something and I'm sat here thinking if I've been watching the right game. Underwhelming year for him, for me
Can is no great loss to you if Allen is used as his replacement, he is a much better player with far more tactical sense and better vision for a telling pass.
Only seen that from Allen this season, previous 3 he offered very little to nothing. Can looks really limited beyond running the ball and being a bit of a battering ram with it, his passing isn't very inventive or visionary, his movement beyond the longish runs is laboured. Still think he'll amount to something but we're not seeing it yet
Can is a unsung hero imo. Goes about his business without really being noticed too much. I think we'll miss him but I don't think he's the dogs bollox either. He's our best CM because the others are ****e
I have been saying all season that I have seen nothing in Can to single him out from any other average player in the league, this does not go down well on here because of who I support but it's an honest opinion.
He's our only true 'CM General' if you ask me, and even he isn't that yet, it's there in a primitive form, Lucas maybe being close to that but mostly a nuisance tackler and not much else, no distribution or pace and frankly not much skill ... say that about all of them as you say
You'll hear no bile from me against that, he hasn't struck me as special at all this season, I actually think he was far superior in that season when he was emergency CB. A lot of the rest of our team you could very much describe as 'special'
Your team has an average Schneiderlin, past it Carrick and Schweinsteiger and an average Herrera. I honestly think Can is better than all your centre midfield options.
Schneiderlin has been average for all but 3 games this season Carrick is getting to the "past it" stage but is still far better than 80% of others in the division Schweinsteiger unfortunately is past it except for the last 20 mins in games to shut things down Herrera is one of the best midfielders in the league and will be off in the summer if he has any sense (if van Gaal stays) Can is youngish and has time to improve but at the moment does not look like a player who will ever be more than a journeyman.
