Of course our squad lacks depth. Have you seen how many players we have cleared off the books this window? I also realise that we need new players in some key positions, but the reaction to this match is pathetic and sadly expected from the same old whiners. Even to the point where they start attacking people that don't share their ultra negative views before we have even posted? <spudsindisguise>
*yawn* I'd like to say it's same old Arsenal, but in reality, this summer has been worse than those previous as there's 2 weeks til the season begins and they've spent a sum total of £0. How ANYONE can feel optimistic about the new season is beyond me. Big statements, big money, and a big fat nothing to show for it. Good old ridiculous Arsenal.
i doubt that , they will be the LEAST ones surprised by the loss today . The anger will be more visible on here methinks . There It will re affirm their desire for REAL change , not tinkering .
Does anyone know on this forum why we struggle to bring in quality reinforcements? If the average fan can see where we are lacking, surely AW can see it, I don't think he as influential as we fans give him credit. I feel all he can do is identify the targets, and it is up to the board to sanction and make it happen.
well it will make those optimistic visions , post January window , seem even more obtuse. " we are ready to spend big " Yeah ...but are you ready to spend big enough , or was that just a bit too much bluster ....coz you will look very silly now if you dont spend " big " and miss out on a proven PL goalscorer for the sake of 8-10 mil . The board has talked the talk of the big hitters , are their balls actually big enough to do what they said they would ?
I've been one of Wenger and the club's biggest supporters through the tough times, but if we go into the new season without strengthening this squad, then we are only going to have ourselves to blame. The areas for improvement are there for all to see and we've got no excuses for not addressing them. Let's hope we get it sorted
I disagree. They will be lapping it up like it's Christmas, just like a couple on here. They will be saying that anyone who doesn't back them on their anti AFC rants are guilty of being overly optimistic, just like a couple on here. They will be claiming that those that don't back them in their anti AFC rants are deluded and that we think we don't need to strengthen the squad, just like a couple on here. They are, to a man, petulant, lying toe rags who live for the chance to attack AFC and its supporters.
Because we refuse go that extra mile to get that star player. I think Wenger sets a certain value on any player, and that's it. That was clearly the case with Higuain and with Suarez, I can't see us again going that extra mile to sign Suarez. That sounds ridiculous when we bid have already bid £40 Mil for him, but that's the way it is in this current transfer market, also in Liverpool's eyes we are their direct rivals, so the deal is even more complicated, and I can only see us getting him for £50 Mil plus. It's now or never for me with this current manager and board, and they have to make a statement of intent and by buying Suarez they can change the whole outlook of the club and bring in a new era.
Not certain that the two statements are linked. I will agree though that when we play certain teams, and play with certain line-ups, Giroud is not the best type of striker to lead the line. For me, he is an excellent option when we are playing against a packed defense on a crappy pitch up north in February, when a Suarez is just not going to get a look-in. It is why I don't support blanket statements about certain players not being good enough, or statements hailing others as our best players. If we have a good deep squad with a little variety, we will be better.
If Giroud is a "decent back up " who the hell spent all that cash , when we needed a real quality striker on a " decent back up " instead . Our scouts clearly need a kick up the arse . nice to see that the true his level of ability is now being realised though . But , dont forget , it was only a friendly , he probably didnt WANT to score . When we are against Utd or chelsea , he will bang em in left right and center ....much easier games to score in than a friendly you see.
help us out here , post the " anti-afc rants " humour us . . coz i see LOADS of anti manager , anti board anti accountants , rants . dont see any Anti Arsenal Football Club rants from Arsenal fans . guess i must have selective vision then . heres a big heads up for ya. Arsene Wenger < Arsenal FC
Selective it is then as you refuse to see the posts attacking half the players as well. Nevermind. You just carry on posting your stuff and I'll post mine. SNAFU
