I think Tom's mobility is a red herring. Plenty of players in midfield are not known for being quick or covering every blade but still do well. Pirlo being the best example. Tom is missing something else and it's hard to say what it is. What stops him getting more goals and assists?
i also slate tom for this exact point, i get frustrated with him becuse he should run games more than he does. (Im not including the big pl teams in this) he should be the player that gives us the direction our main playmaker, instead he slows us down and now just passes sideways. He certainly should have been better in the championship. I think Bruce has to take a share of the blame for this aswell
What annoys me about Huddlestone is that he's not fat. He's very muscular and as such he's had to sacrifice his speed.
His timing when shooting is poor. He either delays too long and it's blocked, or he rushes it and misses the target. His shots are great when he times it right but that's few and far between.
You don't necessarily need to be quick or fast for a midfielder. Did you see Busquets for Spain last night? He didn't break sweat yet was absolutely outstanding. He just made himself available for the ball all the time.
For me it is either lack of mobility or the lack of desire to move into open space to receive a pass back. He seems just to pass then stay static rather than pass and move to receive back a pass.
Clearly put together by idiots! The pundits last night were heaping praise on him. Saying that's as good a performance as you'll see from a holding midfielder. Making yourself available for a pass all the time.
He needs room to get his shots off as he may not be that quick, and while he's good at some passes he's not so good at others. Maybe it does all come down to quickness, not in running all over the midfield but in spotting things. The best players are very quick of mind.
I suspect that this is Elmo's agent warming things up for a potential move in the January window - its a pretty pointless story in itself, we all knew a couple of clubs showed a vague interest.
there's a reason huddlestone plays for us he's not anywhere near the quality of pirlo or even busquets his decision making and vision are what he lacks, his skill to pass is amazing though
"I moved to Hull City when they were in the Championship as a big gamble because I wasn't playing at Sunderland, and because of my admiration for Steve Bruce." He was not playing at Sunderland in a struggling team but it was a big gamble
Elmomamingby does not look interested in the slightest. In my limited appearances this season, i've made more effort in my half time piss
