Good luck to Robbie, I honestly thought he'd be our no1 for some years before this summer started. Guess it really is hammer time
Don't blame him for the move- still don't like the fact he claimed he was 100% with us (near suggesting it's being done behind his back), when a lot of people upstairs knew he had his eye on this transfer after being told by a rep.
A few weeks ago when the rumours of Robbie leaving started up, I said that I thought he could get into the England team at some point in the future. Now he is at Newcastle he has a real chance. He is better than some of the duffers who have had a shot in goal for England in the past. Before the European Championships, I wager that Robbie gets a try-out for the full England team.
We've San Marino in the next round of Qualifiers for the World Cup - What could be a better scenario to throw him into. Tim Krul only needs to get injured and Robbie only needs to have an good enough game during that time to take the Newcastle No.1 Shirt (just a shame for him no one came in for Steve Harper)
With the lack of English Premiership keepers, I really can see him getting a chance. Maybe Steve Harper will be loaned out?
