you didnt make any points " babe " you just sidestepped the question every time i asked you about the specific problem you had with my topic and the relevent reference i made to mansell in connection with his time with de angelis at lotus -

then --- when you finally could not think of nothing else to say because you had dug yourself a hole you could not escape from , you made out your initial post with the unprovoked name calling was all a jolly little joke you were playing on me --
as i said --- a child of ten could see thru that one -

Sounds familiar No? I wonder where I found my inspiration.... It's a mystery to me.

Now I must sleep... really. Have to be up in 4 hours. So please don't be too spiteful in my absence. *kiss*

Let's have a closer look at these statements.

You say Mansell messed up in 86 & 87, yet give no reasons why you beleive this until asked later when you refer to Masnell having had an 'off' day in 1986. Hardly conclusive proof the he messed up two years!

You then suggest, quite clearly, that Elio probably would have won a WDC if he coudl have forced his way into a Williams in the early nineties. So are you suggesting anyone could have won in a Williams? Thus devaluing those who did win and enabling you to berate anyone who didn't?

Xig, we all know you don;t rate Mansell, you have explained it on several occasions. It is clear to everyone what the point of your thread was.

Why not just come out and admit it eh? No one agrees with you, 217 drivers to whom you give utmost respect to, don't agree with you either. If they did, they'd see the talent that was there, as they did with many drivers who raced in fewer GP's than Elio or never had fully competitive machinery throught their careers.

I mean, Patrese is in the top 40, someone you have refered to as a journeyman!

Come on, there's a good bud.

are you tryimg to pick a fight with me as well saint --

exactly who are " everybody " that does not agree with my thread , i dont expect everybody to agree with me that was not the purpose of my topic in the first place , i doubt if two thirds of my fellow buds on here have even heard of de angelis

when you look at 86 closely mansell had a number of poor races in a healthy williams that he should have won in ,
in fact i dont think he was that good at all in 86 considering the massive advantage he had over everybody except piquet , watching the pair at lotus i just believe de angelis would have been more consistant over the season and would have picked up enough points to have pipped everybody given the massive advantage he would of had in the williams -

in fairness mansell did not drive that badly during 87 but still had a few bad races and a little reliabilty problems ,
mansell was allways prone to do silly things , why on earth did he mix it with senna at spa at such a silly point of the track , i mean senna of all people , didnt he learn in previous yrs you cant take liberties with such a ruthless bastard as senna was ,

nigel had a big car advantage over the lotus he could of picked a better part of the track to pass senna , cramp or whatever at detroit , he was average at monza , his mistake at japan ,
i just believe de angelis would have been more consistant over the season than nigel was ,

plus for me i believe mansell was allways slightly overweight in his 86 and 87 yrs with wiliams ,
1992 when he finally got down to the weight he should have been and finally got the job done in 92 , elio allways struck me as a more disciplined thoughtful driver than mansell --

as for the 217 poll , you do know that the drivers would of known that de angelis had a very short career and died in 86 before he ever had his chance in a competitive car -- hence why he was never going to be on anybodys radar when such a poll was conducted , -

cant get back to you until after 6 --
