Touch screens make you take your eyes of the road (Even the Euro NCAP agree), have tried cruise control and wasn't a fan. Might be good in speed limit areas however. Sensors are great, till they go wrong. Expect them to become MOT test failures soon.
Ive gone hybrid for my company car, decent benefit BIK wise ( obviously pay more then fully elec ) but I get the benefit of a massive saving Vs none hybrid and all the benefits of a ICE engine
hybrids are def the best of both electric for city driving, ice for long distance etc surely thats a win for everyone, hybrids are weirdly expensive though
First thing I do when I get in the car is turn it all off, just annoying that legally it all comes back on again every time.
Mine was cheaper then the fully electric version of the same car and I think from memory almost the same as the petrol....
i guess what i meant is the 2nd hand market, theyre either 15 year old utter **** boxes or 20k+ 2022+
Yeah hybrid is still good for personal tax but it's no way as good for company tax as new full electric
Ditto, stop start and lane assist is turned off every time I get in the car, and I have adaptive cruise control which I never use. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
I’m an old fogey who grew up before home computers were really a thing. However you can chuck as much tech at my car as you want. Just drove to Manchester and back. I ****ing hate driving, but whacked it on Adaptive Cruise Control and that’s its, sorted. No having to use your pedals, slows down/stops if you nod off and are about to hit something, then when the traffic speeds up it does that for you too. You can just sit back and choose the tunes! If it had been cold or hot weather I’d have set the temp on my phone before we left so it was just right when we got in, and why the **** wouldn’t anyone want to see behind them on a screen when you’re reversing without having to crick your neck? As long as it doesn’t have that **** Musk’s fingerprints on it I’ll take as much tech as possible thanks (it’s a petrol car btw. If the charging network was better I’d be happy with fully electric, but for now I’m happy with petrol)
Adaptive cruise control is the dog’s bollocks. FACT. Until you get into your wife’s car, slap on the adaptive cruise control, then realise as you are about to shunt into the car in front that her cruise control isn’t adaptive after all. Her car’s got really responsive brakes mind.
Worked 40 years in science, got a masters on research into sensors so I know them. Just don't trust them (in the words of Neil Armstrong, built by the lowest bidder). Mine has a rear view camera, which I use and I have tried cruise control but wasn't impressed. Guess I don't like paying for something I don't want. Now, I'd go for a head up display and also HOTAS (hands on throttle and stick meaning i don't have to reach out for anything) but its not available.
The company the wives works for is going green. Runs a 2.0 turbo diesel insignia, passat, skoda superb level type company car, doesn't do as many miles as others so planned to keep it an extra year past the standard 4 year change plan and budgeted approx £45,000. Has to change now to plug in hybrid with a short list of approved vehicles to chose from, ended up with an audi Q5 at about £65,000. It was fully charged on collection and managed about 30km on electric, not been charged since. The 2 liter diesels were about 4.5liter for 100km (60mpg) Q5 2.0 petrol doing about 9liter per 100km (30mpg) Ticks a green box though.
I've got the heads up display but seldom look at it, there's too much tech on modern cars that can go wrong. Three week old car, and I'm sat at the petrol station pump having filled up, and the bleedin' thing won't start as it says 'no key detected'. The key was in my trouser pocket, and in my coat pocket was the spare key, ten minutes later it decides it's detected a key, load of ****. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Diesel is green, the government told us so. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
All the assistance makes you a lazy driver and I include myself in that. Can't remember what it's called but mine will start breaking for upcoming bends in the road, junctions, other cars etc which does do your head in but just a touch on the accelerator and your back to normal
