There can be balance to the discussion in so much as remembering it isn't the whole nation that support there governments actions. It's a country that feels on the verge of war at all times. You are surrounded by army personnel at all times, you are likely to sit on the bus next to someone holding an assault rifle a handful of times a day, you have to go through a metal detector to get into a train station, or bus station, or shopping centre, or anything and often get searched. It feels like war could kick off at any moment and when people are living that way is it any wonder, that out of fear, many believe there government is the only choice?

On top of those who fall in line through fear are the many, many people who outright disagree with there governments actions. In my time there it wasn't strange for me to meet people who were desperate for the situation with Palestine to end peacefully.

That's not even considering the historical and religious factors that come into it.

It isn't as simple as Israel being evil, or some such.

In all honesty its a manufactured nation, and its on a war footing permanently due to it being surrounded by Muslim nations.

A detailed response to that bile filled rant isn't worth my time, same as you're not, however, let me clear 2 things up. Firstly I know you're a married man with kids and so me calling you a ***got for being the snide ****ing grass that you are, isn't homophobic as you're not gay you daft ****

Secondly, site admin asked me not to PM you again as they can't be arsed with a moaning bitch like you causing them bother, crying about **** while their agenda is as transparent as glass.

 

It was a couple of years ago and I went all over the place, it was an incredible experience. Very different to any other country I've been to. I stayed in the muslim quarter in tel-aviv where I could get a bus into the main station and from there around the country. The humous and falafel is amazing. There are places you feel like your walking around in the bible. One minute your by the wailing wall, walk round a couple of corners and it's the church of the holy sepulchre and before you know it your accidently walking into an area which is Muslim only during prayer time and having a gun shoved in your face! And the security questions getting in and out of the country... Let's just say you better know your partner well If I get started talking about travel I'll just keep going so I'll leave it at that! But it was an eye opening experience that gave me a different view on the region.

I think I may have mentioned on this board before that I worked for an airline for a period of time and so was able to fly to countries that otherwise I wouldn't necessarily have considered as holiday destinations.

Cheers for the reply mate Though one question I do have is how long (average) do you stay in another country for when you work for an airline? Or is it a case of flying back on the same flight? Cause I always thought that maybe people who worked for airlines wouldn't have enough time to get out of the airport and view the place they've landed at.

 

It depends on the airline and the destination. With some airlines you will regularly be staying all over the place, the European airlines tend to be one night layovers when they have them (and the budget airlines only have a handful of destinations they actually layover, most days the crew will return to the country they started in) whilst the long haul guys at BA for example end up getting a handful of days on a beach in the Caribbean or LA etc fully paid for in between shifts! At all airlines they tend to have very good travel perks though that basically mean in your off time you can go where you like.

So when your flying on a low budget or European airline those crew will probably fly 2-6 sectors (flights) a day and end up back where they started just a lot more tired, without having seen much of the airports they've landed in. They do get layovers but they could be once a week, once a month, it depends on the shifts given (though crew who like to layover regularly change flights with others who have family commitments etc). But they will also often be on contracts which can mean strange combinations of days on and days off so plenty of time to use the travel perks to explore the world.

I probably visited a new destination every other week in my own time whilst I was working for an airline due to travel perks that included flights, skipping boarding queues and cheap rates at hotels and for food in airports and loads of other stuff lol, not to mention having a card key for parking! But I knew others who would only have a few holidays a year. It all depends on the person really and how inclined they are to take advantage of the perks available.

 

You'd thnk that wouldn't you, but when sleazy lowlifes start PMing you calling you ***got, it's beyond forum disagreement, it's the domain of anonymous internet cowards, usually the spineles kind that never have the balls to say that to anyone's face, I feel no need for such tactics.
