These guys are great, there series on the Iranian revolution they did a month or so ago is worth a listen.
I suppose it's like all Town's they have some nice places and a bit of history, but Chatham Hight Street in particular is just the pits, I wouldn't recomend anyone going there and certainly watch where you park, and after dark is just a no, no.

Never use to be, was a bustling town one time, Rochester would be the only Medway Town (City status?) worth visiting now. Although need to watch your video sometime, see what they say.

Made me laugh yesterday, I see the NHS have built a hub in Chatham's shopping centre the Pentagon, think I'd rather be ill than have to park in the Pentagon and getting ****ing mugged. <laugh>

It was the military centre of the biggest empire the world has seen to date.

Compared to none out ... unless bound for Rwanda at a cost per individual in excess of a trip into Space with Branson's rocket ... I'd say yes... particularly as they were immediately detained and get sent straight back...

Bauvill built the NHS hub and are now tendering for refurbishing retail outlets in the shopping centre. As I think I’ve mentioned before, I know Damien who owns Bauvill and when he found out I am retiring at the end of the month, offered me work as a project manager for the retail outlets if he gets the contract.

It use to be bustling decades ago, no idea what they do with the pentagon now. The NHS hub will help in the sense that it's passing trade. So ideal for coffee shops and food outlets. Don't know if it's got a nursery or softball centre in there, that would encourage more passing trade, and give parents somewhere to take the little ones.

I think my first concern though would be parking - I don't even know if the pentagon is still used for parking, I know it had many inherent problems, do the buses even go there anymore - I know they use to have a ramp at the centre. Suppose it's about making it attractive again, at least first for the local people. Also electric car charging points.

Think Bluewater probably killed a lot of Chatham off, but I find it hard to believe that certain demographics within Chatham can afford Bluewater prices, let alone getting there. Certainly would be interesting to get your teeth into, but once it's all weighed up, will it still be considered worth it though. I think it could work if started with low cost retail, nowt too flash.

Afterall if Primark can fit in within BW why not. Seems a mammoth task in such an old place now. Interesting though. Didn't know Bauvill did the NHS place.

I’ve only been to the Pentagon once in about 25 years and that was about a year ago. I somehow missed the signs and ended up driving through the bus station, which resulted in a fine a few weeks later <laugh>
I do remember parking there as the entrance to the car park is opposite the court. Can’t really remember what the shopping centre was like if I’m honest.

@pieguts reminds me of this (one of many) story...the lanes were poorly signed and they caught thousands of people the bastards...

Medway council has earned more than £1.2 million from motorists caught driving through Chatham bus station, we can reveal.

I expect many of those fined motorists are like me and keep away because it aint worth the hassle. If you treat your visitors like prey, Medway Council only have themselves to blame when the place died.

Years ago if I went to Chatham, I would go through Rochester and then along the lower road. I don’t think this is an option anymore?
I had been to Curries up at Rochester airport when I ended up driving through it, so had come into Chatham from the M2. The signage, imo, was non-existent and I only realised my mistakes it was too late!
