Again from what I read, most of the negotiations for handing it back were completed by the previous government, who got out just in time to make it a Labour problem. I think there’s an element of truth in this as the Tories have been unusually quiet over this.

The Tories tried everything to stop the deal being done. They even asked for Trump’s interference to block it.
