I remember seeing one of those DNA ancestor shows a few years ago, and they had a woman on there who was fiercely proud to be English. As in white, English and no foreign blood. She reckoned she could trace her ancestors back to William the Conqueror (not withstanding the fact that the Normans came from France)
Anyway, it turned out that she was something like 8% Nigerian, 6% Pakistani 35% German 20% Irish and so on and she wouldn't have it
