In essence yes ... if you want to go back some 260,000 years ago <laugh> ... but to put that into perspective, the forced relocation of black Africans to America and the Caribbean both happened within the last 500 years ...

... and the populating of the Caribbean with African slaves has a direct correlation with slavery in America as it was the English behind both - within 50 years of each other... and black Africans were not present in either location until the slavers took them there - in relative history it's not really that long ago - Charles I was on the throne of England when the first recorded African slaves were sold by English pirates in Virginia - which opened the floodgates - we had already been transporing slaves to the Caribbean for half a century by then (James VI was the King when it started) ...

... I blame the Tories ....

I am sure we all have foreign blood in us somewhere if we trace all our ancestors back 500 years.
Not sure what the obsession is with Americans in doing that, and they only do it for minorities too.
Black people are called African Americans, Asian people are called Asian Americans, so why are white people not called European Americans?
Notice they only single out the non white people as something else "other" than American.

FFS if the last 7 generations of your family were all born in America, you are ****ing American, regardless of your skin colour.

... 4 years before I was born Rosa Parks was being ordered to vacate her seat on a bus in Alabama so that a white person could sit down ... Rosa was 15 years older than my mum ...

So whilst your 7 generation thing might be a warm and cosy convenience - the reality of being a 'black American' is a little different ...

I'm sure it was, under the Democrats Jim Crow laws, which were all removed 50 years ago.
Since then they have had a black president.
Attaching such an importance to ethnicity is ridiculous.
Isnt that what Martin Luther King fought against?

Because of divisive media trying to drive everyone apart I reckon, divide and conquer.
Easier to **** over the little man if they are all separated into little cliques, rather than united under a common set of values.

What about Irish Americans? Are they black?
