How are Labour doing after their first 12 months

I can see how conspiracy theories happen though, and Trumps response to it all, let me get my shoes <laugh>

Can't stand the guy - but I think his reaction (my shoes etc) may be partly down to shock as was surmised on the BBC news ... but the bit he will really hate is the footage of him being bundled into his car ... the extent of his baldy patch was very much evidenced <laugh>

That happens to all parties though don't it, turn them into something they wasn't, even Labour under Starmer are not the Labour of the past. It all comes down to which element get to the reins of the party and steers the ship.

Yeah, he seized the authorization side of the party. While stomping on the fiscal small-government Republicans.

A lot of old school Republicans think he is worse than the Democrats with his anti-capitalist fiscal plans.

Trump survives headshot attempt

Next day Florida case against him dismissed

Man is blessed.

Isn't Florida very Republican anyway, I expect that's why it's his main residence. Nothing is ever going to stick to Teflon Trump there.

I hadn't really taken too much notice that Trumps wig had come off, can't think he was too bothered considering he nearly took a bullet, although physical appearance and self-esteem are often related...

Weird really, when we are young we don't want to be bald, but now I'm old it just fooking irritates me and I just wack a number three all over it. I know you're a bit more vain Fosse, but seriously mate in our 60's I couldn't give a shhite - although I had let it grow reasonably long not too many months back, but once the summer heat is here, I need to remove that blanket lol.

I've been pretty luck on that front - still got a good head of hair coming up to 65 in October... but one thing I've always maintained was that, should it start going, no attempts to disguise, just shave it close ...

I first cut my hair really short during covid, when we couldn't get to the hairdressers, I decided it was easier like that and looked alright, less hassle in the mornings, less hassle when I go into hospital, less hassle in the summer and just get it cut as per mood now, which is often short.

Florida was traditionally a swing state.

His main residence is a absolutely stunning mansion, Mar-a-lago is absolutely massive. He bought it years ago and officially moved in.

For many many years Trump was based in New York and lived in a penthouse at the top of Trump Tower.

Florida is very... Split. The Northern part which has been growing in population rapidly is as redneck Southern as they come. The Southern tip has a lot of Cubans... Unlike most other Latino groups, Cuban-Ameticans are more frequently Republican.

The center of the state is more moderate or left wing.

Didn’t know that.

I was sort of thinking about Florida Orange Juice, which you don’t really see anymore

Kissimmee (Florida) I can remember back in the 90's them ploughing a lot of the orange groves for new build villas.

Although the main blame these days is put on greening which is a disease of citrus fruits.

Only Trump.

I see it plenty in the US. If I had to guess, it's cheaper to import from other places to UK now.

I recall a decade or more ago some people were trying to make it illegal for people to plant citrus in their backyard in Florida because of some disease spreading. No idea if that passed...

Not in Florida but have orange trees in my garden grown from pips. Never going to get fruit off them, I'm slightly too North. Every three or four years we get a cold snap that kills them to the ground but they always come back from the roots.

I've got a pink banana and two hairy balls (maybe three, balls, think I have a seedling). Hoping to be able to pick fruit off my pink banana. I know people here that has <ok>.

JD Vance announced as running mate. Never heard of him... But apparently used to be in the military so a smart move since Republicans normally get the military and family of military vote... But Trump is on shaky ground with them for keep calling them losers. Having a VP with military connections might help keep the military voters on his side.

Think a Trump win is basically a formality at this point.
