How are Labour doing after their first 12 months

To be honest I haven’t read much about it but it sounds like they wanted to restore the whip and give her the chance to retire with dignity probably followed by the Lords. Feels a bit like people with their own agenda about Labour jumping on this to make it a bigger thing than it should be.

You can’t deny her history and undoubtedly she’s popular with her constituency- I’d guess not as popular as she once was given how that area is changing but still popular- but she’s a bit of a liability in the grand scheme of things.

She's an easy target for the 'right of centre' alarmist press and the insinuation (wrongly) that the Labour Party is institutionally anti-semitic ...

Lot of frummers in Hackney mate. She should have known better than to play Bigotry Top Trumps when quite a few of her constituents probably lost family in Auschwitz

Those freaks won’t even know there’s an election on. Far too busy getting another dent in the Volvo and arguing with each other about the meaning of a phrase on page 76 of the Torah.

Labour were not 25 points ahead in the polls when Starmer suspended Corbyn. They’d just suffered one of the biggest ever GE defeats with Corbyn and Abbott front and centre of the party.

A lot of Labour voters I know seen Abbott and Corbyn as a big problem and will be glad to see the back of them both. Whether it’s fair or not, it’s right for the party and future government that people like them are nowhere near.

I've not mentioned Corbyn. That's been done and dusted. The only reason to bring him into it is bcos there's nowt much to argue about with the way they've handled Diane Abbott now. As of last week prior to this debacle with her they were 25 points ahead.

If it was momentum doing the same to purge labour of ppl who were centre of the party (as they tried btw) I'd be saying the same, and those who are defending the way Labour are treating Diane Abbott would be too.

I disagree she's a liability, certainly not in terms of the GE. I think this is more what happens after the election rather than the election itself. It's more the case of Starmer making sure he doesn't have what he considers as any block of dissenters once he's in government. Abbott isn't the only one. All I'd say is be careful what you wish for. The labour party at its best is a broad church.

When two Jewish ppl missed out on a peerage, Labour MP Barry Sheerman put out a tweet stating 'there's been a run on silver shekels'. A clear and obvious antisemitic trope far worse than anything Abbott said in this so-called bigotry top trumps. But bcos he was a supporter of Starmer an apology sufficed, no investigation and everyone moved on. And this was all while Starmer was "changing the party". Go figure.

I'm with Trebs on this the Abbott affair is a disgrace as if they had just reinstated the whip in Dec no one would give a **** about her standing as they know she would not get anywhere near a Starmer cabinet . Instead they gift the Tories an ongoing row to keep harping on about and Starmer has been caught blatantly lying .

Yeah it’s a **** show of their own making. Completely unnecessary, and has come about because they are **** scared of the media saying they have ‘corbynister’ sympathisers in the ranks

instead they’ve handed the Tories and the media a story to bang on about. A self inflicted wound

Will probs all be forgotten about come the election, but a stupid own goal

Personally speaking, I don't compare the racism I face to the racism others do, but what Diane Abbott said was NOT anti semetic.

It was an opinion. She accepted Irish, Jewish and travellers faced racism and discrimination but said it was not the same as racism faced by non whites. This is true (imo) but "not the same" does not mean it is less serious. Her mistake was not to make his abundantly clear and she immediately apologised.

Her carelessness made it seem like she believed that there is a hierarchy of racism which is both bollocks and unhelpful. In the same way I would not dream of saying the racism I face is worse than sexism or homophonia as this would be saying other forms of discrimination and oppression is less serious.

Starmer and his supporters would be better served examining their reasons for not calling for an immediate ceasefire when around 10,000 civilians had been slaughtered in Palestine but changing their mind when the number hit 15,000.

That is a ****ing huge **** off attitude that has no place in any decent party. Like what exact number of civilian deaths was unacceptable to these ****ers????

It's clear (when you compare their attitude to Russia's attacks on the Ukrainian civilians) that non white life's are less politically important to these ****s.

No way will I vote for these scum in the election. They are worse than Blair and Co by quite a distance and I couldn't stand them.

Edit...this ain't aimed at anything said by anyone on here...just ranting.

I think Diane Abbott was correct and the racism was to call her racist and anti- semitic. The Labour party should apologise to her, but of course they won't. Their Israeli paymasters will see to that.

We’ve had a beigel bake sale and bunged Starmer a few quid to stop it happening. Netanyahu promised to match what we raised. Because Israelis definitely give a **** about whether Diane Abbott runs in ****ing Hackney.
