Anyway, a bit of good news we can all enjoy - Nicolas Sarkozy is going to gaol; well done Johnny Frog. If we do the same to Boris Johnson, I’ll start believing again in British justice.
I didn’t say British Jews love the fascists, I said British fascists love Israel. Which is indisputable; little Tommy Two Names wants to go to Villa Park in a Maccabi Tel Aviv shirt. Sling him in the Holt End in a Brum shirt imo.
Yeah I agree it gave France an excuse not to stop the boats, anyone else doing it would have been seen as bullying in nature or not someone we should be trading with if they behaved like that, but because some people didn't like the outcome, they don't get treated with the same disdain in the same way someone like Trump or any other trading bloc would have done. I've never had a problem with trading with any European country, but it shouldn't be the monopoly that it has become, one where they dictate or look to punish you such as with tariffs or migrants if you dare leave. Their prerogative I accept, but it's in the manner that you use it that concerns me, so much for old friends eh. Imagine if someone like Putin behaved that way towards a neighbour, oh yeah hang on a minute he has. For me our treatment since leaving is a very good reason to never go back, I was ok with the Common Market, even though I never got a vote in it. Then I was tied to it for 50 years without ever having a vote in it and the enormous changes that saw it grow into a power house, that's not democracy. I'd agree Brexit was done badly, but in truth it was always meant to fail, everyone who had an interest in the EU wanted it to fail. In truth I never honestly thought I'd get what I wished for, I really never and was always open about that with my friends, family and work colleagues, I thought it was impossible to leave the EU, that's the only part I ever consider I got wrong. Maybe the political powers that be, beyond our shores as well, made sure the Brexit wish was granted, but I never ever really saw it as 'Brexit' I saw it more as leaving a Federation, something I didn't want to belong to. Look at all the Federations in the world, they've all turned into basket cases. Tell you one thing I would not have done though, is cry about it for the next 9 years if my preferred outcome was defeated. For those who say it's made us poorer, well to those that have rarely cared about the have nots other than chucking the odd coin and beyond the passing word, we will still feast at Christmas and engage in the materialistic things, way beyond and more expensive than we need and the poor will still remain poor without a blink of an eye. Hiding behind the EU to excuse that is just a cop out of the selfish greed of humanity.
I don’t think they do love Israel. Not really. It’s a vehicle for their anti-Islam thing. Plenty of British fascists have gone the other way and still froth about Jews (Nick Griffin, for example).
I ask the same question I ask of Piskie, why do you keep obsessing over Tommy Two Names, I never know what the **** is doing, constantly bringing him into every discussion is like no publicity is bad, it just promotes him everytime. He's got you paranoid and irrational and that then feeds into politics and the good guys on the other side who don't want him either. Bitterness spreads like covid, you are your own worst enemies, we saw it with Brexit, we saw it with Trump in America, we are seeing it again with Farage. The left are the engine room of the right, wake up mate and smell the ****ing coffee, before you turn every good guy against you and get the wish you claim you don't want. I'm not suggesting ignore it, but the level of your voracity is irrational - it's like a child stamping it's feet and achieving the grand sum of **** all at the end of it.
Indeed, it looks like a case of my enemy's enemy is my friend. And with friends like Farage and Two-Names, who needs enemies...
I care about tgese figureheads of the far right because they have influence over the simple minded, of whom there are many. And in case you haven't noticed, there is a very real possibility of an overtly racist far right party forming the next UK government. A party led by the mam who did more than any other to engineer Brexit and divide the country in the process.
It's an unhealthy obsession and if you took the trouble to read even part of my stuff, I've already told you there is a risk of them getting in and why. There is only a cigarette paper between the far left and the far right, and I hate both sides, and it's this unhealthy obsession by the left that is the engine room for the right. The more you hate them, the more you promote them, I said yesterday I would not know what Tommy and Farage were doing if it were not for reading not606. I have views, I'm very open about my views, I'd probably go as far as to say more than anyone else on this forum, I say who I vote for and why I voted for them every single time I'm open like this. That tends to lean a lot of **** my way, because I'm so candid. Yet you attack the wrong guy, there are many on here and I'd say @Big Ern is one of them - quick enough with the questions, but rarely write about their political leanings and preferences - although to be fair rarely gives me a hard time over it. There are always holes in our preferences that people can pick at. But don't do the picking if you rarely discuss your own leanings and views. How many people on this thread would actually support Tommy R or have even done so, I'd say the grand sum of ****ing no one, so you are arguing with yourselves and giving TR some free publicity in the process. The reason people are so gullible is because if you grind them down enough with the insults, then chances are people will not like you, chances are they will then vote for what you don't like, see Brexit, see Trump for more details, you just never ****ing learn.
TR and Farage get the publicity because the media is owned by billionaires. As to me, I'm a meritocratic socialist, but I'm not foolish to believe it's a workable system, because actual people exist, rather than theoretical ones unaffected by 'emotional responses'.
of course they get the publicity because of the media owners that's why people should ignore it and they don't - the Israel/Hamas war a good example of how people are sucked up by every morsel of it. Get a good atrocity or Hamas story and await the charity to roll. At least it's promoted the sales of dates in the West Bank....don't tell Piskie I said that.
Meritocratic system, I wonder how that would work, would tax contributions be a good way of measuring it, afterall it says how long you have worked for and how much you have contributed to the system, although it don't measure the importance of your work or how hard you worked or even how many hours you put in. Interesting, we need to discuss this more so I can learn about it.
lol, it's too utopian to ever be workable without a despotic autocrat in charge, and probably not even then. Too much human nature.
Despotic autocrat? Thats basically what England had until the civil war in 1650 mate. So you basically want to live in Medieval England, with an all powerful monarchy, but with a pussy for a monarch who gives all his money away.....which would ultimately cause their downfall......bit of a catch 22 innit? You dont stay powerful by giving all your money and power away
You miss the point entirely, I said it's unworkable for that very reason, because humans are humans it would need a despotic autocrat, which makes it null and void as a system. Communism is a good example, as a theoretical system it's great, in a real world setting, not so much.
Indeed, evidenced by the fact that every country that has tried it has either been plagued with corruption and eventually overthrown by something just as bad if not worse (Russia), or becomes a dystopian hell hole unworthy of human habitation (North Korea, Venezuela)
