Did they even make any promises?

From my recollection, their manifesto was basically 'we wouldn't do that', without ever saying what they would do. Which turns out to be **** all about anything.

I can't believe they sneaked in, the last election was more about getting the Tories out, so may people didn't vote because they just assumed labour would piss it.

Those people should have voted, Labour only just scraped in in reality.

with them not banging the drum for all the good they are doing and chasing reform on immigration, he may just be the way to win back ‘the north’ which is in danger of being lost to xenophobia and reform…mistruths and under explained policy.

my local county councillor is now a reform one, replacing the previous Labour one.. the Labour one was active in the community and posting regular updates/sharing concerns and what she was doing for the community.

not seen the reform one since the May elections and her active FB page pre election is bare….

 

I think Keir Starmer has got himself stuck in a bit of a rut, it's as Archers said earlier today of all the things we could be talking about such as NHS etc, we are chatting about ID cards. It failed under Blair and cost millions in the process of failure.

It now looks how Abe would often describe under that Ike guy, create a problem and give a solution, so make the migrants the problem and give the solution such as id cards, when it really does not pacify the argument, it just inflames it even more. It's a veiled totalitarian idea or discrimination or both.

Imagine how many people have probably lived in this country for decades, but have managed to live under the radar, probably a pleasant life with family members. Remember covid when they wanted everyone to have the jab, and no questions would be asked.

Starmer has stumbled into this like a blind man who has lost his white stick. He needs to drop the idea and get back on track with the manifesto promises of which this was not one of them.

 

I'm not a Labour member so didn’t see that.

I just saw a load of bluster without saying anything during the campaign, then them making it up as they go a long since they got in.

Have aways said Starmer was a complete bluffer. He's not a politician, he's a rabbit in the headlights.

It's absolutely no suprise that the masses are starting to believe the lies Farage is spouting because they know now they've been hoodwinked by Starmer.

 

I voted Labour to get the Tories out and have been mugged off in the process, they've attacked everyone on the lower end of the ladder rather than go for those at the top, who we were alluded to believe they were going for. It just says don't vote for anyone. Although I hasten to add, I'm not even against Starmer now, I'm happy to give him or even Burnham a chance, but he needs to drop this ID nonsense asap and stop being a stubborn **** and learn to read the room.

 

That's a decent summary.

I think Starmer has got caught between trying to be a friend to business and investors, talking about Labour values and then trying to shave off debt by doing the exact opposite of Labour values, and now trying to appease the Reform leaning voters with this pandering to fear about immigrants.

On the international stage, I think he's a very good statesman and he's doing a good job at keeping a very fractious world communicating with each other.

But domestically, and I'm not so bothered about the high profile resignations, he seems to be in a spin.

Like you say, get back to dealing with the NHS, invest in schools, youth services, workers rights, address the wage stagnation issue. These are the issues that affect working people on a day to day basis.

 

Starmer needs to focus on next mays local elections. Look at the farce of the Reform county councils, the DOGE failure and without a doubt, the rise in council tax in these after the promise of reduced costs and improved services.

We've got a budget on November 26th. Two things he needs to be wary of, do not add anymore financial stress to hospitality, if they do it wiill keel over and this Christmas will be their last. Also don't do anything that will trigger food inflation, otherwise all the minimum wage increases will have been pointless. Don't forget, people will also get their winter fuel payments sometime around all this, it will be beneficial to the economy in the run up to Christmas, people will have some extra money in their pocket they didn't have last year, time to start giving out some feel good factor rather than doom and gloom.

I think a shakeup with Burnham and a new Chancellor can only help. I think Labours polling will not improve one bit under Starmer and Reeves.

 

They won a massive majority barely a year ago. The leadership ain’t changing soon.

Originally I assumed he meant the lies he said to voters, which i don't really recall him saying anything of note because he never did. Was all just sound bite bollocks.

I don't think Starmer or Reeves are as bad as most of the media repeats over and over again every day of the week, but I do think Starmer is particularly poor at communicating, useless at PR and Reeves has been used as a lightning rod, everything targets her.

Sometimes freshening up just needs to happen to change the narrative.
