If Zelensky's clever (and I think he is) he'll accept that Crimea is gone (and probably prefers being part of Russia anyway, based on ethnicity, language etc) but makes a huge song and dance about it before 'grudgingly accepting' ... on condition that Ukraine is given free reign to joint NATO, EU... etc ...

I can't see Putin doing any deals. As you've said, IF Crimea probably prefers being Russian anyway, he will see it as non negotiable, I know I would. I don't know the make up of Ukraine (for want of better wording) and whether there are other similar areas currently occupied by Russia that would feel the same. I just don't take the media narratives stance around all this, Ukranians may well want to be part of NATO and the EU, but I assume there will be some people within the boundaries of Ukraine that don't want that. It's a bit like asking an Englishman in Scotland if he wants independence, I'm not of the broadbrush approach thinking and often feel things are more complicated than this. Yeah Putin is a shhite and I'll repeat again he deserves a bullet to the head for the deaths he's caused, but in times of negotiation, I think Putin is going to want more than just Crimea. And while I think Putin is a shhite of the highest order, I don't particularly subscribed to the liking of Zelenssky either, just because our media chose to portray him as some kind of hero. Not suggesting for one moment my view is correct, I just question everything and question it again, it;s a bit like when you are a kid, the cowboys were the good guys and the indians the baddies, it's easy to get stereotyped into one version of events in life.

Now Trump is back I think Europe is going to miss the strength and strong will of Angela Merkel, she weren't afraid of slapping Trump into line. I had a lot of respect for her, even if I didn't always agree with her.

Its a bit much to put the blame on USA for this one as what exactly did Europe and Nato do when grab of Donbass and Crimea happened in 2014 apart from put out statements deploring it .
Crimea has gone and will not be returned come what may and tbf is more Russian than Ukrainian

Yeah Europe acted like a wet fish when Putin took Crimea. He saw that and must have thought **** it, I'll take Ukraine as well. Obvs that hasn't turned out as he'd hoped. I don't think the US is to blame, but they are definitely the lynchpin in how it now pans out.

That site is always posting that sort of stuff, please don't keep bringing it to this forum Sucky.

The problem I have with it is there is no date, time, were the police notified, what was the outcome of that. Who was he, is he a local person. You could post that same clip in another 10 years time and be none the wiser. So that account could keep posting it, along with other accounts as though it happened yesterday, but we have no idea when it happened. I'm sure you could go to every football ground in the country and find at least one weirdo like that. It serves no purpose other than to outrage because there is never any background to the story.

I gave you the detail we need but we don't see that detail, so ten accounts could post that anytime of the year as though it happened yesterday, purely to stir up hatred. I honestly can see a site ban incoming for you. If we want that shhite we can go to twitter and find it for ourselves, it's not difficult, just look for accounts with RadioGenoa and Concerned Citizen, it;s the same shhite over and over.

I suppose the important bit for me in all this, and taking out any propaganda from both sides, how many of the areas currently occupied by Putin's lot, actually see themselves as Russian or don't give a toss who controls them. I think it would then give everyone a better idea of where the new boundaries should be set. No point squabbling over bits of land where the residents don't give a shhite, IF such feeling exists.

Crimea is Russian. That's not Putin's view, it's the view of everyone in Russia. If you'd asked Alexei Navalny while he was alive, he'd have said it too. So would any Russian leader or potential leader; people in the West need to accept that
