I'm going to stick my neck out and say Antonsson, once he starts scoring and finds his feet will out score Wood, mainly because Antonsson puts in a better and more physical shift....
Wehey 3points at home on a tuesday night. Wrist slashers:don't put yer blades too far away this could be a blip Prozac junkies, keep popping the pills as this could be a blip. Anyway, happiest I've been for many a tuesday, also it pissed it down here aswell, lovely. MOT?
Actually just checked back and it was two fiver bets that time - realise not proof but either that or an elaborate dated set up http://www.not606.com/threads/the-breakfast-debate-bournemouth-v-leeds-match-thread.277572/page-11
Quote from WACCOE, so not checking the stats but: "9 goals in his last 16 games from our worst ever striker. please log in to view this image "
Haha don't worry I realise it's a tad ridiculous just didn't want to come across as sniffer-esque in my claims
I remember it took MacCormack a year to score after he joined us. How do we explain that? Wood is the best we have, but like Antenucci, Antonsson will prove valuable across the season. Sacko looking like the find of the summer, unless Jonnson surpasses him?
My thoughts on the game.... Overall, it was a very poor game. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. The first half was particularly disappointing. Blackburn's league position didn't lie, and neither did ours. The good news is that the back 4 were fairly solid, particularly the CBs, and we returned to 4-2-3-1. That's about it, folks! We could easily have been hammered if they weren't more inept than us. Green - Didn't have the advantage of a replay, but in real time, he sold the jerseys again for the goal. Flatfooted, out of position & slow to respond. This is becoming more regular than Bamba's howlers, but Monk persists. But then, what do I know? Ayling - I've consistently complained about 2 things concerning Ayling: 1. He fails so often to cut out crosses. This time, one of the crosses resulted in a goal. I don't think I've ever seen him block a cross. Most of the time he's trying to get back into position & is slower than the winger. 2. he never runs to the by-line to make a cross. He always cuts in & makes for the penalty box. He may be acting under orders, or it's perceived by people who know better than me that it's a good thing. Nothing positive has come of it so far. He did get a couple of good crosses in from the byline tonight, but he didn't carry the ball there himself. I prefer a RB to bomb down the wing & block crosses. He doesn't. He has a lot to do to impress me. I don't think he will. I'd rather have Coyle if Berardi wasn't available, any day. Jansson - Immense. A Terry Butcher / Tony Adams type of player in many ways. Made a couple of great runs with the ball well into the opposition half. Lost the ball the 3rd time he tried it. I wonder what he might be like as a centre forward. Just sayin ... Bartley - Best performance I've seen from him to date. Solid, dependable - and a goal-scorer! Taylor - Had his best game of the season, and I put this down to Dallas freeing him up for lots of runs. Defensively questionable at times, however, and I think it's the impending transfer that prevents 100% commitment from him. He absolutely crapped himself & pulled out of a winnable 50/50 challenge in the first half, & there was no disguising it. Very, very obvious. He doesn't want to get hurt & bugger up his future. Hope Denton gets some game time. Perhaps the LC might be a good call for him. Bridcutt - As a fan of his, I hate to say that he was absolutely average. Good at winning the ball, but just as good at losing it again. Injured himself at the start of the second half by fearlessly trying to shoot when it wasn't really on. O'Kane - I must be honest - I didn't notice him much! Probably down to me rather than him, though. Seemed to get a good review on the radio as I drove home, but I missed it. Ah well, next time! Dallas - Probably his best performance in a Leeds shirt ever. Did his usual defensive bit & covered every blade (freeing Taylor as mentioned above), but there 2 other factors of note: 1. He lasted 90 minutes & didn't show any signs of fatigue (like he used to do after an hour last season). 2. He was the most attack-minded I've ever seen him. I was thrilled to bits for him. Hernandez - Like O'Kane, I didn't really see a great deal of Hernandez. Well, nothing special, anyway. I thought anonymous, but am happy to be corrected. Sacko - Spells of brilliance, tempered by a number of poor decisions. Hopefully that'll come as he develops. Deffo MOTM, but tbh, didn't have a lot of competition from either team for that accolade. Why do I think Max Gradel every time I see him play? Bit to go to catch up, but the potential is there. A joy to watch, even with the missed opportunities youth brings to his play. Antonsson - Did a lot of running. Achieved very little in doing so. Fortunately, replaced after 60 mins. Subs Phillips (49) - Stepped into Bridcutt's shoes & did ok. He's not Bridcutt, but did all he had to in an understated way. The thing that surprised me about the substitution was that it wasn't Viera that came on. I got the feeling they were being alternated, but Viera wasn't even on the bench. Perhaps he's injured like Roofe. Wood (60) - Scored within 5 mins of coming on. Nothing spectacular. Right place, right time tap-in. As I've said many times before, give him the service & he'll score. Have to say that Antonsson got a lot more crosses to play with, but achieved nowt. Mowatt (83) - Did more in the few minutes he had than he did in the whole of Saturday's match. Different player when he's not played out of position. Still wouldn't pick him unless I had to. Tactics 4-2-3-1. End of. Shocking passing for most of the match. Lots of humping it up the park & lots of (unpredictable) head tennis. Still no-one on the back post for corners, and no-one on the halfway line either. Still wanting to know the science behind this.
Always like reading your reviews Jock cheers Good to hear Dallas had a good game as well, still think he has a lot to contribute to this team.
Hope he has. Really surprised me tonight. Think he's as fit as he's ever been.. Just hoping for consistency now.
Also, just watched some highlights. From the angle of the camera it looks like it'd be quite hard to blame Green for the goal, seemed well placed and powerful from Emnes. Really that shot should never have happened. Would also like to add that Sacko's pace is terrific to see, terrifies defenders. Do we have an option of a permanent transfer with him?
No idea about Sacko, tbh. Was valued at £6m, at one time, I believe. Haven't seen the highlights yet. Need to see it before I can comment on Green. Am I right in thinking Ayling was all over the place & should have blocked the cross to Emnes?
Nice report thanks WJ - We have had several games playing 4-4-2 it doesn't work, we don't get any better, players play out of position. We need to stick to 4-2-3-1 or a variation of an extra man in midfield and continue to pick players who know their position and play it to their best ability. Although the team selection and formation was spot on and we got the win, reading your comments about simple things like back post corners it doesn't inspire me still that Monk is the guy we need.
So it's not just me then ..... http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2016/09/1...ct-on-twitter-to-pablo-hernandezs-perform-1/?
