It has, but the buyers are Sky customers who by coughing up have allowed this to happen. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
They certainly know how to ruin things. Crowds up at their highest level in years across the board but no got to pander to TV and the armchair ****ers
I dont understand why they don’t just bin the 3:00 blackout and let sky put their televised games on the red button
Spot on this. We'll probably play more games at 12.30 than 3pm this season. Another tradition bites the dust
A long time fan of TWS I know, bit of a lad to say the least, used to follow them home and away for years. I remember talking to him a while back and mentioned he didn’t seem to go as much. He said that so few Leeds games were being played at 3pm on a Saturday either home or away it wasn’t worth getting a season ticket anymore as all the ones moved to midweek meant getting time off work and there was a limit to what his bosses would go along with and not having a season ticket any more meant he didn’t have any chance of an away ticket as even season ticket holders had little chance of an away ticket given the numbers wanting them. That is going to start affecting even more. Still, the armchair brigade will be happy,
One theory I've had that I've not really ever seen discussed would be having all PL fixtures on Sunday (there's so many European leagues anyway we see a lot of weekends with PL games weighted to the Sunday as it is) with EFL games at 3pm on the Saturday with no blackout. There'd be no need for the blackout in that situation I wouldn't have thought.
It’s going to happen. Comments like yours will become all too common. It’s honestly what sky want. By pissing off 72 fan bases they get what they want in their golden chalice which is premier league games shown at 3pm and they’ll do a streaming service. what then for the EFL? Because sky won’t do both in the long run. They’ll put up 46 games a week on a streaming service. Realise that every man and his dog is watching the big 6 and then all of a sudden “sorry EFL the demand just isn’t there. Here’s the deal take it or leave it”
Also probably worth considering that even without the blackout, some televised games would be at 3pm on a Saturday yes, but they'd still spread loads out over a weekend in order to maximise the viewing and avoid key games overlapping.
I'm tempted to cancel my membership. I'm really in two minds. I really want to go for some food and a beer before the game with having to rush around for 12:30pm kick or think about getting up for work at 4:45am for a Sunday game.
