Why is the meeting important? To whom is it important? It's already been acknowledged as a sham, as it is selective against the true reasons for protest and those who protest. The Trust say they must attend because they've been calling for a meeting, but is this really what they had in mind? The Trust say they will have occasion to voice their grievances and/or demands. Do they honestly believe that is necessary after all that has been said and done. Piss poor posturing is what it is. It's a farce and should be totally shunned by anyone who understands the nature of the owners and how they behave. Publicly saying NO and giving the reasons why is far more powerful and less open to Allam manipulation.
Gates are good for tying banners to. Especially if ties are used. It'd take ages to get them off. Trip to the potting shed for the secateurs. 10 minutes at least. Easy long enough for photos to be taken which can be posted on social media and sent to newsrooms.
And what reasons would they be? We're so sure that they're not going to change anything that we're not even going to bother to turn up to find out? We're going to be as childish as the owners? We're washing our hair that night? The Trust has been calling for a meeting with the owners since their inception, now they've finally got their opportunity, they're obviously going to take it.
Bang on - if you have a no-show from the supporters it'll give the Allams and their ill informed support the moral high ground. The thought of listening to the boy simpering ''what more can we do? We bent over backwards to talk to the fans but they couldn't be bothered to turn up''. Not showing isn't really an option, it'd be a huge own goal.
Hopefully the meeting will be successful and the beginning of a new era in which the fans and owners can all just get along or at least tolerate each other. Alternatively, do the Trust have a plan of protest action ready to be implemented as soon as the meeting draws to a close should it be, as expected, a waste of time?
What reasons? Aren’t they the name change by stealth and concessions? What more is there to be said that hasn’t already been said. There’s a lot of water passed under the bridge since the Trust’s inception. This includes the owners having a strategy that uses the goodwill of supporters for all of the wrong reasons. The other day, on here, you and others were saying how pointless and pathetic it is to have a meeting about the protests (that is their agenda, I’ve seen no other) without inviting the protesters to argue their cause. I see nothing childish in not dancing to their tune and taking some control over your own participation. Each to their own, but, perhaps those attending should take one of the fabled stress balls to alleviate their frustration.
The owners are attending a meeting to discuss concessions and branding, the Trust can't possibly refuse to attend on the basis we haven't got these things already, it's the whole point of the meeting.
Here is what I posted the other day. This is the bit from Ehabs statement about the meeting. Looks to me like point 1 is stop the protests during the game. Until such time, we kindly request an amnesty from fans reacting during the match, this is a sign of support to the team, not the ownership! I am extending this request to all fan group leaders, whom we will engage with over the next week or so to seek a temporary resolution to these matters until our departure. Concessions If we receive a positive recommendation from the aforementioned supporter consultation there will be an introduction of match ticket concession pricing based on the criteria agreed with the Premier League. The proposal is attached for supporter observation. There is only 1 point on the agenda, stop the protests, and if they get a positive outcome you get the concessions as shown in their proposal. This is an extra meeting to discuss this one thing, I hope who ever goes from the Trust is on the ball because I am getting the feeling its a stitch up.
