I'm sure Ehab and Assem will make sure accurate minutes are kept and circulated to the City faithful quickly. Interesting that Ehab's invite to representatives of all Hull City Supporters groups has been restricted to the hand-picked supporters forum. Seems not606 doesn't count this time.
He could, but if ever asked about his academic field of research in science, divinity, medicine, law etc, he'd look a fool if he said he gained it for donating money to a cause.
Ok Wikipedia isn’t the best source to reference, but anyway... “With regard to the use of this honorific, the policies of institutions of higher education generally[citation needed] ask that recipients "refrain from adopting the misleading title"[5]and that a recipient of an honorary doctorate should restrict the use of the title "Dr" before their name to any engagement with the institution of higher education in question and not within the broader community” https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honorary_degree

Exactly. The true title of 'Dr" is gained through academic endeavour. An honorary degree is typically awarded by academic institutions for public service gestures/good works, often financial donations, never earned by academic effort. Universties etc would have been wiser to adopt/define a title other than 'Doctor' for the award. Edit: Had H.H. Crippen donated money to London University to help develop telegraph communication, would he be entitled to call himself Dr. Dr. Crippen ?
Even when they give them out at my gaff's ceremonies, during the build up and at the actual presentation they still never refer to the recipient as doctor or for that matter even as Mr, Mrs or Ms. It is always by their full name every time e.g. John Smith's work began in 1973 etc etc. I haven't ever heard this practice at any other university either, although I am sure there must be the odd exception. Of course, I may have been snoozing at the back of the stage during the speeches and missed it... always possible the pre-ceremony lunches do tend to be laced with free booze.
I think this has it right, although, take the old sod out of the mix and I have to question why award it if you can't use its moniker. It's an odd system.
Are you sure? I’m only interested in seeing the notes and views from fellow supporters. And not having to wait years to see them. Our fan base is diverse. Of course someone will be upset they’ve missed out. But as it stands no one single group has a clear mandate to be considered a has to be picked.
Regardless of what the organised protesters do, there's nothing to stop individuals turning up to stage some sort of protest and I expect some probably will. Particularly as it's now known that the protesters representatives are not being invited to next weeks meeting.
If the aim of the meeting is to stop the protests, then not inviting the people who are arranging those protests is a little daft.
It is bizarre I haven’t noticed Dr Sheridan Smith using her title very much but she has one from Hull too
It seems bizarre; or it’s what I posted previously, he couldn’t give a **** about protests, he simply sees it as a golden opportunity to poke in the eye all those who insult him on-line and then expect an audience. I can see where he’s coming from.
The last one was - Tom Rowell (TR), Joe Clutterbrook (JC), Ann Holland (AH), Dan Clarke (DC), North Stand Member (NSM), James Baron (JB), Tony Munzer (TM), Joanne Warrington (JW), Chris Wilde (CW), Richard Campion (RC), Julie Alderman (JA), Kate Leeming (KL), Geoff Bielby (GB), John Sherman (JS), Barbara Wilkinson (BW), John Williams (JW) Assuming it's exactly the same, with the addition of the Allams, it will be 19 people, 6 of which are representing the club, 1 who's representing the fans and 12 who want the leaky roof sorted...
