Sounds a similar situation with Rice and Blooms. Forest brought in Edu who took complete control of recruitment.
it's been said before be careful what you wish for, we bought in a new manager & went fourteen games without a win lucky for us it was spread over two seasons
Seems strange to sack him on a Thursday instead of Monday, after the win against Mansfield I thought it would be another couple of weeks before it happened
I just read on various other sites that Michael Duff will be joining as head coach today,my only thought is well he can't be any worse than Dodds.
Duff has been appointed as our new Head Coach he has a decent enough record and experience so lets hope he can turn our fortunes around.
Out of the fire and into the frying pan we go Duff has been unemployed since March, when he was dismissed by Huddersfield with the club’s League One promotion push faltering. When Duff was axed by the Terriers in March, the club’s owner Kevin Nagle said: “This is not a decision that I have taken lightly. I really like Michael as a person and I know how diligently he has worked for the club since he was appointed as head coach in the summer, so we’ve all been desperate for him to succeed. “However, our results on the pitch since the turn of the year have simply not been good enough. It is true that we’ve had an unprecedented injury situation to contend with, particularly recently, but I believe that the resources we have available are capable of more than the four wins we’ve registered in our last 15 games. “I feel we must make this change now to reignite our challenge for promotion. I want to thank Michael, and I wish him all the best for the future.” Where on earth did Rice get his data from?
Didn't we have a Northern Irish manager back in the early 90s he wasn't too bad if I remember correctly
Didn't Huddersfield finally finished about 10th. They obviously decided this time to go with a manager who has a bit of experience
I'm sure we could have done better in replacing Dodds I just hope that this one understands a simple principle that was so brilliantly demonstrated in a film I once saw. The manaager got this very fast and tricky player to take the ball down the wing. Once on his way, the manager kicked a ball goalwards. Afterwards he asked the player what he noticed but the player hadn't noticed anything. So it was pointed out that the ball reached the 10 yard line quicker than he did. Moral. - don't run with the ball if you can get it to one of your players upfield by kicking it All this posession and slow build up (with 95% accurate passing) is simply and invitation for the other side to get back to defend their goal, making it extremely difficult to penetrate a "brick wall" There is a lot to be said about the long ball (and I stress not hoofball). I've seen it leaving the defence helpless on so many occasions; often against the run of play. If you can get that ball behind the defence into a space anticipated by a pacey striker, it's a one on one. Simple. Possession football is great when you are winning; not when you are 2-0 down FFS
