Exeter is the only south coast club I have to tick of my list.....great news........ Oh hang on....im boycotting this season....phew.
Who else went there first game of the season when we were buoyed with excitement at signing Jason Harris and Lee Bracey? It didn't take long to realise we were still ****e. Think we lost 2 or 3 nil, dashed back to the car, got a flat tyre and still made it back to Circus Circus for last orders.
It could always be worse, we could be Aston Villa putting out a full first team & just have been knocked out by Luton.

Me! Lost 3-1. We had two early season trips to Exeter in quick succession. Won 3-1 in 2001/02, City took an excellent following (we did our usual of combining the game with a weekend in Torquay). Then the following season the score was reversed - not sure if things didn't go wrong from the moment City had to wear Exeter's away kit (or at least shorts and socks) due to a clash? Could be mistaken. Perhaps my fave trip down there was a decade earlier - the "We Can't Wait To Get To Exeter" final away game of the 91/92 season. Won 3-0 on a hot afternoon, "Let's All Do the Darren France" being the celebratory song/dance among the several hundred City there. The weekend in Torquay was livened up by the presence of a large Bolton contingent, which made for adrenalin-filled Friday/Saturday nights on the English Riviera. Ironically, Bolton were next up at Boothferry the following midweek I think? Great trips? Great times? Or is it just that the state of things now simply make such memories all the more rose-tinted?!
Cheers, really don't renember us scoring but I'll take your word for it. I knew we were there the opening day the next season too and we battered them, but sadly I couldn't make that game as I was working at PA at the time. My mates all went and I was gutted. Torkey away was always the highlight of the away calendar, even when we lost 5-1 under Hateley and could only see half of the pitch cos of fog. And no you're right, I was miles better then. At least all the few hundred fans were as one.
Wasn't it a 1-0 defeat (at Exeter)? Ryan Williams debut, went off injured? Exeter are one of them teams that, fathomably, used to bring about 20 or 30 fans to BP. If you stood in Bunkers you couldn't hardly hear anything when they scored, just would see around a dozen of them running down the steps of the North Stand (some holding onto their hats) before returning to their positions and repeatedly pointing at City fans seemingly in some sort of strange mime (presumably chanting you're not singing anymore - but this was unclear as you couldn't hear out).
Not sure what happened there but I appear to have quoted myself above! Anyway, you get the picture...don't you?!
Was there in 1999.Think it was this game that Rob Dewhurst scored their winner and Greaves was sent off. Warned by steward not to smoke in the wooden stand.
