What May has done there is put the option of us staying in, in all but name for an indefinite period of time.

This idea could well appeal to the EU as public opinion here has already shifted on whether leaving is a good idea, and a further 4 years down the line there could well be a strong public will to see the decision reversed. If that ended up being the case, then there'd be little to undo to reverse it, and during this entire period we're still paying what we do now.

This won't be lost on the rabid right wing press and expect them to go after May full bore in the coming days - they'll be pushing for Rees Mogg, as he'll take the cliff edge lemming jump. Watch it unfold.

They should have taken notice of the currency experts, anyone can guess.

The May speech was an attempt to see if the EU were willing to move away from its intransigent position. Obviously after a negative response the government will rightly blame the EU for the complete breakdown in negotiations and hopefully plan for no deal.

No. For crying out loud it is interpreting the data, not guesswork.

The city traders are better at working out data regarding currency movement than some bods at which that normally deal with washing machines and irons.

Well I think it is safe to say that she has united the country.................against her. Mail readers in danger of self combustion, remainers asking what that was all about. General feeling over here is that she said little new, except that she doesn't want to leave before 2021. She might want that, but it is not in her gift. Just as the right wing Front National is imploding here, the Tory party is heading in the same direction. You can hold a party together for some time, but not for ever.

    I'll try again...
The figures quoted are data supplied by Office of National Statistics. They show the trend from prior to the referendum up until June 2017. Data. Facts. Published by the people who, well, record and publish these things as the public record.

I'm pretty sure that the bods that deal with the washing machines and irons have deferred any opinion of the datasets to those who know about these things. However, plotting data to a graph and the interpretation of the trend of a graph is something we've all learned in third or fourth form. Nothing to do with opinions, just cold, hard facts.

You seem to forget SH that because of the anti-EU fanatics within your party, that they spent years out of power. Actually because I speak to people in the UK who voted both ways, I do get a view of how people thought before the referendum and how they think now. Several didn't vote in the general election because despite being Tory voters over the years, they couldn't bring themselves to support either leader. Since the speech that was supposed to move things on I have actually spoken to a leave voter. He says that if he had not listened to people like Boris and read the Telegraph he would have made a completely different decision. He says that he feels a fool to have believed them, but as an excuse claims he never really had much time to research as much as he now thinks he should have. His view is that both main parties will implode, and he like me hopes that the more sensible politicians come together to run the country in a better way than we see at present.

Well there was enough Tory supporters to ensure they have controlled the UK government since 2010 and are on course to run the government until 2022. There was ample information and time to determine which way to vote in the referendum, if your contact failed to do that he only has himself to blame. He seems equally clueless on his prediction of UK politics, he is obviously drinking the same stuff as the delusional Vince Cable.

Not quite right there are you. The £Billion pound bribe only runs for two years. More money in 2019, or will some of it be used to fund a care home in Wellingborough?

The office of national statistics show data, they do not possess information that can identify future trading values, better leave that to the currency experts who fully understand this area. They agree that sterling is 'chronically undervalued', Brexit will certainly have an effect.

There will be ample funds when the UK leaves without paying any bribes.

When will this magical 'third' party' emerge? You have been predicting it long enough. :emoticon-0136-giggl

I am now seeing the debate we should have had before the referendum. However, before the ref. There was so little to go on perhaps it is not surprising that the best slogan 'won'.
It seems to me that we now need a govt. of consensus more than at any time since 1940. Chances however are depressingly slim. The number of grownups in Parliament is depressingly small.
. If SH is actually a real person, something I find very difficult to. believe based on his ludicrous views, then it really will be impossible to achieve an outcome that improves the lot of the British people.

The deal with the DUP runs until 2019. The country will still be within the EU until 2021 if the EU agree. There is a 2 year gap in your logic. Perhaps you would explain?

Over 13.5 million shared my Tory views at the recent election, the Conservatives are the favoured political party especially in England.
The findings of a recent poll showed 70% of those polled want the UK to complete Brexit a.s.a.p.

My views may not reflect the majority on this thread but in the real world they certainly do. It is you that is out of step with the electorate.

Firstly the DUP clearly have an option to extend their agreement. The government could actually survive without this formal agreement if necessary.

I would have thought you would have the good sense to avoid anymore predictions that always seem to turn out wrong.

I am not quite sure what bubble you live in, but in a poll issued only today it was shown that if there were a new vote today 52% would vote to remain. You of course would be happy to pay another £Billion to the DUP while Wellingborough and other similar towns are told there is no money for social needs. It shows to me that you put ideology ahead of people.

You seem to be under the impression that that is what I'm trying to do. I'm not. Whether the currency experts think that the £ is undervalued is not the point, and is quite irrelevant. That it is worth a lot less than it has been and continues, generally as a trend, to be so is. Whilst there is economic uncertainty, and as the "negotiations" aren't going to be concluded anytime soon I'd say that uncertainty is going to be with us for some time and the trend for further devaluation of the £ and increasing prices is likely to continue.
