You've just said in your previous post that the Euro is seen as a safe haven vs the dollar at present, and now you're spinning the Eurozone is a fiscal car crash narrative - make your mind up mate......

Cherry picking of stats i.e. your quoting of the July surplus, is never a wise move. The deficit was running at ahead of last years figures in the first 4 months, and July's figures were bolstered by an £800m jump in tax receipts from the self employed over the July 2016 figures. However, look a bit closer and you'll see that the July month end deadline fell on a weekend, meaning a large chunk of the receipts went into August's numbers.....

Meanwhile the National debt has increased by over £700BN since 2010.....

Who's predicting wage increases to outstrip inflation in 2018 btw?

What a shambles when you get a Tory MEP obtaining an Irish passport saying he is "ashamed to be British in many ways." The Tory MEP also criticised his party for being mired in “arrogance and hubris … the petty nationalism, the triumphalism”.

It looks as if 1,000,000 Irish passports could be applied for by the end of the year simply because people want to prevent this government stripping away their given rights.

Duh. I was talking about GBP/USD, no discernible decrease in the last few months.

Stop it! I keep suddenly belly-laughing and Matej is getting decidedly peed off with me for making him jump!

In fairness to SH, he has cajones to keep on preaching to the many unconverted, largely on his Todd.

You might have thought that by now he would have taken his head out of the sand and wondered why he is so alone. Sweeney Todd goes back to the middle of the 19th century reportedly a friend of Rees-Mogg. :emoticon-0105-wink:

"Brexit Secretary David Davis has just concluded a week of talks in Brussels about the UK's withdrawal from the EU."

The team didn't work Monday because it was a Bank Holiday. They traveled over Tuesday, and talks began at 4.30 pm. They talked Wednesday and Thursday morning, then packed up to travel back. Hard life for some.

What about the extremely discernible difference in the value of Sterling vs the supposedly wobbly Euro though?

We're heading for parity after being @ 1.42 less than 2 years ago and at 1.31 at the time of the referendum....

Sorry guys I had 10 ton of gravel delivered just after lunch, I have laid more than half, I'm knackered.

It has been nigh on impossible for the last two years to get any of you remoaners to discuss UK financials compared to other EU countries. Suddenly because there has been a tiny growth in Euroland you all come out of the woodwork. The Euro safe haven position is relative to what else is going on, not that this experiment has solved its many problems. Unemployment is unacceptably high in many EU countries compared to the UK. France is about to come to a standstill, Italy, Spain and Portugal have many banks which are practically bankrupt. The Greek problem just rolls on leaving their people in poverty. Poland is on the verge of a massive fall out and Turkey will push large amounts of migrants into Europe after Merkel's statement last night.

    Enjoy while it lasts.
