If people decide not to read the leaflets, or do not accept them, then maybe, just maybe, they might go and target another club. However, if people do show an interest and accept such literature then it is not surprising that the EDL target clubs such as ours.
The truth is that many people are fed up with extreme muslims foisting their Sharia ideas on this country, and will, therefore, search for whatever political group oppose such extremism.
The governement is this country is weak. People will naturally seek an outlet for their views; whether it be to the left, or to the right.
 
'Just because something is legal does not make it right' has simply floored me. I have no answer to that sort of imaginative, creative thinking and will walk away from this debate knowing that this country will never go short of viliage idiots.

So you're implying that the government legislature is all based on morals. Anything breaking laws is morally wrong and anything not breaking them is perfectly fine? Are you out of your ****ing mind? Or was this just your response due to having nothing of value to say? For example, look at the Nazi's and Mussolini. Both of which got into power using (mostly) legal means, ended up becoming dictators and one of which killed 6 million people and started world war 2. Are you telling me that Hitler's policies were not wrong because he used legal methods? (With the exception of using the SA to beat up some commies and the whole Munich Putsch thing. Neither of which got him into power.)

I'm also interested in how you 'accidentally' walked into an EDL meeting and try so hard to justify their party and policies while "loving" living in a Muslim community. to be honest, I'd dislike living in a Muslim community, most Non-Muslims would, it's human nature to dislike being a minority. The fact you're trying so hard to try and prove yourself not racist really does imply the opposite. Combined with the defence of the EDL league and the fact you have experience with them doesn't help.

Am I one of these "liberals" who thinks that immigrants should be able to move here and change our traditions/way of life? No. I find it ******ed that things like Christmas holiday in schools is now winter holiday. But do I support a bunch of skinhead thugs who probably can't spell politics....no, I do not. They're doing the exact same thing that the Nazis did, I'd rather keep that away from my football club. Let them do it anywhere else, but not at Charlton matches.
 
The Grannie handbag fight comment is about right. It seems that the majority of us on here agree we wouldn't support the EDL. The arguement is over whether they have a right to exist and therefore stand outside our ground and issue leaflets.

I don't like burger king but they exist and have the right to advertise their wares.

That is fortunately what a democratic and tolerant society is all about. If we were not a tolerant society we might ban the freedom of speech that these people have and that would be the start of a very slippery slope. The only way to overcome this is to educate people to understand what is wrong with their views.

Maybe we should also be louder in proclaiming the virtues of our club, its campaign against racism, its commitments to our community and why that is in contradiction to some of the views held by the EDL.

CAFC have always been a leading light against racism and maybe we should tell the EDL every time they hand a leaflet that they not reaching our fans because on the whole we are not racist and are unsympathetic to their views.

On the subject of racism believe me the proclamation sharia law is about as racist as you can get and those that do so should be prosecuted under the act and also for treason since they are attempting to overthrow our legal system.

I have never said I supported the EDL even though your narrow mindedness blinkered thought process will never accept that Please re-read and apologise. I said or rather heavily implicated that I respect and undertsand their right to dispense leaflets. please comment on the content of that leaflet and then I will understand your objection to it. Indeed, I can then give you my knowledge of libel and incitement rules. I have not seen it so i cannot comment if it offends. If you are saying they are all mindless skin head thugs, then perhaps you can explain why they have Rabbis and other religious figures in their hierachy.

By comparing the EDL to Hitler you are scrapping your dirty barrel here. That sounds worse than the shooting welshman is legal argument! Oh and if you must know I was drinking in a pub and the EDL hired the room out upstairs for a meeting. Yes a few were mindless idiots only good for handing out leaflets were there and others who were legitmately mad but as said I met a rabbi and three other guys who were not of the same skin colour as the others. So don't call me a racist and jump to conclusions through your own paranoia.

I know you didn't say you supported them. It does not mean that you don't though, but judging from what you said it wasn't a particularly far out assumption. I mean, who else would know about a far-right Charlton website would have been to an EDL meeting, and I like the way you ignored my point about you loving the Muslim community. Also I never said they were all mindless skin heads, just the vast majority of them. There are idiots in every religion/class.

If I don't like the laws vote them out? What? Vote the laws or the government? Either way, voting is useless, either Labour or Conservatives will win every election in the foreseeable future and nothing will change. I'm not scare the EDL will "come and get me", I just think they're ******ed and would rather not have them associated with CAFC. If you're talking about the "Night of long knives" murders, they were predominantly in-party murders to stop the personal threat to Hitler, not to benefit the Nazis overall. Also this was just before the Nazis got into power, there was nothing like that in the early days of the Nazis and this is early day for the EDL so comparing the two is irrelevant in this aspect. Nazis didn't get to become the largest German party because of murders, they did it by spreading fear about a minority, using nationalism and giving speeches in beer halls. Now, are you saying that doesn't sound JUST like the EDL? And they gained power by being the largest party, not because of murders.

The fact that I know cafc have a large far right following and website does not indicate approval by me but clearly suggest you are ignorant about your own football club. After 29 years support you know who the bell ends are at a club. Like now. Wikipedia only gets you so far don't it. Hitler was the head of the nazi party and by killing all his detractors and rivals then surely they both will flourish. Your suggestion ti the contrary is amazingly dumb. The rest of your post on hitler is drivel and your wise to shut up. I lived in Jakarta for 12 months so how can you say I did not enjoy it. You make assumptions based on your own ignorance and fear. Yet, you ignore the rest (Majority) of my post. Okay, I may have been wrong about you supporting EDL (Shockingly, assumptions can be wrong) but that's really not the focus of what I'm saying.

Is there an extreme right presence at the club, of course there is. There will be at every football club in the country. But having the nazis publicly operating at CAFC will only ruin the reputation of the club. I don't see how that's debatable.

And before going into the freedom of speech side of things, you wouldn't appreciate Arsenal/Chelsea fans coming down to the Valley on matchdays and offering discount tickets to watch them play would you?
 
Ryan I ignored the rest of your post because it's garbage. I will answer it once I get the apology and your own response to my original post. Have you read the leaflet that you say was handed out by the EDL? How is it that rabbis and other nationalities sit at the top table of the EDL. Why is it that it is wrong to act lawfully and promote your political view within the law? Why do you speak for the human race on the subject of minorities? You sound like you wear leather patches on your corduroy jacket. surely you want to live in a world where others are free to air their views?

Wait, you actually edited your last post. Hitler killed very few rivals from other parties, and when he did the Nazis were already the largest party and he was chancellor. Therefore the murders are irrelevant. If you're denying the fact that Hitler got voter support by spreading fear about a minority, using nationalism and giving speeches in places such as beer halls then you simply are deluded. I'm really not sure which part of that is debatable, please enlighten me. It's stone cold fact, which in history is rare.

I didn't say I do not vote. I just said it's pointless. I actually voted Tories last election because the national deficit needed to be reduced, it's the only single thing I agreed with from them though. The only single liberal policy I agree with is voting reform. Huh, it's funny how your assumptions turned out to be wrong as well. Yes, I did not read the leaflet, but I know the EDL's policies. They may claim that they are a moderate and not extreme party...but hey, so did the nazis. What happened with the nazis again? Oh yeah, destroyed half a continent and almost an entire race.

I think you are a bit mental. How is giving a few leaflets in floyd rd akin to the massacre of 12 million Jews and a world war? You don't even know what these leaflets said!!!! I can assure you they did not say bring a gun and a bottle. Your history is sketchy and wiki won't help you with your paranoia. I May be wrong here but when hitler murdered his political rivals I think you can safely say that was probably illegal at the time and those without piano wires round their necks decided to let him stand unopposed. The EDL are not nazis and the suggestion they are indicates you know diddly squat about thier politics or the nazis. You keep trying to draw comparisons to satisfy your own poor knowledge of the subject and a dwindling argument. If you know EDL policies can I see the bit where it says exterminate an entire race 400 times your own number and ban parallel parking in woolwich. You obviously believe in democracy but fir your own selfish needs. Get a grip on the situation they have every right to canvass at cafc. If not go and move them on. I'll hold your pipe and bovril.
 
I am sure most people know their history but hitler massacred the communist and social democratic party in 1933 he also killed a load of other politicians and police and replaced them with Gestapo members. To say he murdered ' a few rivals' is like saying the recent riots were 'just a bit of playful shoplifting' a quick hit on any website will confirm that adolf was not one for fair and honest elections.

They reckon even in 1933 he was still in 3rd position in the polls, a few fires and a stabbing frenzy later and he is the winner! Reckon he gave out any leaflets?
