He has been fit for too much of this year. He’s probably exhausted.

We'll struggle on Friday, Forrest will sit back for the draw from the off. We struggle to break teams down for a number of reasons. Maxi cant cross and cant pass and Miggy can't cross and Wilson has somehow forgotten how to trot, jog, run, sprint, jump and generally get into the area where a pass/cross should be getting put in to him.

Then we have Burn who cant cross so essentially our entire left flank is void of creativity unless Willock does one of his bursts down there. Our right flank is void of creativity because Trippier now stands in the ****ing centre back positions most the game. Bruno's dinks over the top no longer work because Wilson has forgot how to run.

Not sure if I've mentioned it but Wilson has forgot how to run

    100% agree.

Reason I think Trippier is in centre backs position is because Schar is average hence he needs replacing. People confuse his meandering runs with his actual job of defending

That’s actually what a good full back should do when the ball is coming in from the left side. Burn not as good at it as he is not a natural full back. Trippier’s one error though is he needs to sort out when he is covering behind the back four and when to move forward and try and win ball from winger/ wing back. Felt he was getting it wrong a lot at weekend. Might be that, without Almiron on, he was feeling more exposed.

    But it’s not

Take the season we finished 5th under Pardew. Defence was solid for that season

Yes that is the full backs job but Schar overly creates that situation. In a back 5 I thought he was immense but in a back 4 where out right hand side provides the only bit of creativity then it causes issues

Except it really wasn't, was it? We let in 51 goals in the league that season and lost 11 games. This season we've let in 18 and lost 3, we're going to finish far better than that.

The defence that year was Simpson, Coloccini, Williamson, Santon, with Taylor player instead of Williamson at the start. Our current defence absolutely destroys that.

I don’t see it. Both Schar and Botman are a bit slow but think they work together well and actually Schar was the better player last week. I would like to see Targett given some game time. Think he gives us more going forward.

No problem with trying Burn and Botman at centre back to see how it goes.

It’s the draws against Bournemouth x2, Palace x2, Leeds, Wolves, West Ham what have ****ed us. So many points lost. Great season what could have been even greater!

Lol there's still 13 games to go, nothings ****ed!

Every team has low points in the season, and a handful of draws ain't all that; we might not be going to win the title, but we never were going to do that, but we're still in with a chance of 4th and maybe even 3rd.

We were in with a shout for a trophy and when push came to shove the team failed to win the big game.

It just lacks killer instinct and imo will fall short of top 4.

I would say the foundations are laid though and it's been a fantastic season and top 8 is fine.

It's scary to think that despite our amazing defence we're still only 1 result away from being overtaken by Brighton.

Both us and Brighton have a game in hand or two over the rest of the league, and that is us vs them because of the cup final.

That game will make or break our season I think. We drew at their ground, we need to win to create that gap.

Howe has done a fantastic job this season with an upgraded squad from a bollocks situation.

He has got players playing well above their previous levels.

    I’ve enjoyed this season.

He’s going to make mistakes but ultimately we have made immense progress.

The new owners and howe have got everything right so far, but at some point they'll make mistakes and that's just part of the journey.

    It should all be embraced.

The owners made a mistake in Jan and Howe made his in the cup final.

Cup final still stings for me
