Not forgetting Isak is the first Newcastle player since Shearer to score 21 goals in a PL season.

 

It doesn't mean that much these days mind

 

Not the most though.

 

Not forgetting (subject to FA Cup Final result) getting us into Europe two seasons running since Sir Bob.

And to think he managed this with a squad shot through with injuries and remnants of the MA era. Not to mention a season long ban for a key player.

 

Pretty remarkable when you consider that Wilson and Isak were sometimes both out.
85 goals even surpasses the Keegan sides of the nineties.

It's not really a relevant stat when we've conceded loads at the other end like.

 

The GD is ridiculous, we should be 4th.

 

Well that's not how it works is it, it's better to win three games 1-0 than win two games 5-0 then draw a game.

Point being we didn't score as many goals last season but finished 4th.

 

We have certainly lost that solidity at the back this year. Not sure whether its injuries, introducing new, younger, players like Hall and Livramiento, or just a result of us actually pushing forward more.

Its clear that teams are working on ways to get through our very high press - which is risky, but if you can get the ball through the initial press there tends to be a lot of space in midfield, and we can get caught with few defenders. Howe appears to have modified his formation and tactics to try and deal with this. I have been very impressed with Anderson's role since returning from injury - he seems to be being asked to perform a more holding role on the left and it is giving Hall more support. He seems to have matured as a player as well, much more aware of his position and what is required of him.

You could post our away stats and say they were ****.

But scoring all those goals does release those good vibe chemicals.

 

Man United finished the season with a negative goal difference.

Ten Hag in!

 

We won one in 3 on the road, not to shabby

 

And scored most Newcastle away goals on a PL season .....
