We may have the grit but the team we have now are not title winners. Lacking quality in a number of positions and seriously lacking squad depth.
I agree with this, but I would also make a case we've got far more quality than people think. I keep reasons comments from people saying things like "with those players " or "players like Almiron and Joelinton". Both those players are as good as anything most the top clubs have in this country, but unfortunately there's a huge amount of club snobbery.... football has become about names rather than what they actually do in all areas of the game. We've got some very good players but people especially at other clubs are struggling to acknowledge it because they want to believe they have better players and it's just about effort. Isak botman trippier Bruno Guimareas Joelinton tonali Wilson almiron Livramento willock Gordon Barnes...these are all top players. I'd say Newcastle are 3 or 4 away from competing for everything.
That would be one hell of a squad! Pope, Srnicek Trippier, Livarmento Schar, Peacock Botman, Albert, Watson Burn, Barton Bruno, Batty Willock, Lee Tonali, Miley Almiron, Gillespie, Asprilla Gordon, Beardsley Isak, Shearer, Ferdinand
Think our back 4, Livramento, Schar, Botman and Trippier are way better. Pope is better than Srnicek on every level. I'd take Shearer over Isak every day Lee over Joelinton, I think Joelinton is overhyped. Gordon is a more consistent performer than Ginola. Ever since we got some money Ginola is suddenly a massive Newcastle guy, don't buy it.
