Yeah I'd mentioned Anchor Steam too, nice beer I'd also recommend their Go West IPA which they do in bottles in Fruit Very nice indeed
Only been the once 2 weeks ago. They missed part of Ms over 18 meal and the meal I got was bland. As always we give places a second chance so will visit again in 3 months. The service was good though.
Unlike DBT, I'm really no connoisseur with either food or drink. I don't particularly taste it, just pour it down my neck and never reflect on what I'm tasting. Makes for some very one sided conversations when I'm out with DBT, I usually just nod in agreement and confirm it's nice by gulping it down, in an effort to keep up with him. I also have some tricky decisions at the bar, always relieved when there is no choice. Similar with food sadly. the idea of a good meal is how big the plate is. Posh restaurants are wasted on me. I lived in Leeds (as a student) in the early eighties. My local was close enough for Tetleys it to be delivered by horse and cart ( I'm sure the horses were called Bitter and Mild?). I would always go out of my way to drink hand pulled Tetley bitter, even when back in Hull, though if I'm honest, I'm not sure I'd have been able to tell the difference between that and any another hand pulled. I use to quote (and tbh no idea if it's true) that Tetleys doesn't travel well. So god knows what it tastes like in Canada, I certainly wouldn't be drinking Canada dry.
Just reminiscing, for my 21st, I did the Tetley pub hunt in a day. You got your card stamped every time you had a pint of tetleys in a different pub, and when you got to 20, the21st was on the house. Seemed perfectly appropriate for a 21st birthday. Did Bradford pubs for dinner session (in the days when drinking hours defined the two sessions) back in Leeds for the evening. We went to see a band afterwards. No idea about the quality of the Tetleys though. Incidentally, my 20th was relatively dry, watching City's heroic 2-0 win at Burnley when we needed 3.
No it's Turkish. And strangely they serve an Italian lager called Menabrea on tap. Dunno if they still do.
