Eastleigh are poised to secure a place in the Conference playoffs, provided they avoid defeat against Kidderminster in their final game. Should they win the playoffs it would mean League fixtures with Pompey next season. If they don't then, looking down a level, Havant & Waterlooville have qualified for the Conference South playoffs. So who do you think Eastleigh will be meeting in the league next term? Pompey Havant & Waterlooville Neither
I think neither. Pompey will be in league 2, Eastleigh stay where they are (Brissle Rovers winning the play-offs) and Havant & Waterlooville sadly staying down too. My old teams (yes, I am that old, I played for them when they were separate teams ) I do wish Eastleigh do it though, but can't see it.
Did you play for Waterlooville in the 70s? If so I may have watched you as a nipper [me not you ] at Jubillee Park
I think Eastleigh will fall short in play offs though I hope they go up, I asked this on another thread but no-one knew, are their facilities up to FL standard? I bet Hampshire Police are hoping they don't go up though! Is the conference play-off final at Wembley? Could see quite a few Saints fans making the trip if they got that far!
A guy I play footy with use to play for Eastleigh. He quit tho as he thought they were all dick heads.
If it was in recent times, he must have been able to give up the money then? They get paid decent money at that level and if it is part-time on top of a day job, then it's quids in
Conference play-offs seem to be a lottery judging on the past few, just look at how long it took Luton and Cambridge to escape the division. Grimsby and Bristol Rovers are strong sides.
Don't think they will get up this year, but a trip to Wembley would be a good experience for them. Have seen a few games since January ( when not at Saints games) .Bit of a mixed bag, good moving forward but weak at the back, shown by goals f/a. They have a few seasoned pros, which may not be there next year,so unless more money put in,this could be their best chance of getting up. Have a long day Saturday , Spurs first then a trip to stoneham, but should be a good day out.
He may have been, but not when I was there. He was assistant at Havant when I was first there. Really nice fella.
I just don't think they are strong enough to make it this season..........brizzle and or Grimsby have got to be favourites.
I knew it was one of those Portsmouth teams! Yes, top bloke. I played in a 5 aside team with him for a few years. He was an excellent player.
