Eagles aid Magpies.

Glad all over.

At a time when Alan Pardew is decidedly short of friends, his old pals down at Selhurst Park did their best to put a smile on his face - and ensure that the Newcastle boss and his staff will collect bonuses that were dependent on achieving a top ten Premier League finish.

Trailing 0-3 at home to Liverpool with 12 minutes to play on Monday night, Crystal Palace managed to claw back three goals to the delight of their own supporters - and doubtless Pardew, who was spotted in the crowd.

However Tony Pulis fell just short of overseeing the win that would have left them breathing down Newcastle's necks - along with his former employers Stoke City.

Victory for the Potters away at West Bromwich Albion on Sunday would see them sneak above us, but the Magpies are now guaranteed a ninth or tenth place finish - regardless of our result against Liverpool.

It also means that the title winners won't now be decided until the last round of fixtures, although that "f**king old c*nt" at the Etihad is now closing in on silverware.
