Me dad never felt anything during his 2 cataract operations, he got sedated though, they inject numbing stuff under the eyeball. I've just had my teeth cleaned at the dentist and that is enough for me !.
Please forgive me but my recovery means I have to posture i.e lie in the same position for seven solid days and night....
Retinal detachment operations are ****e.
Been there.. done that. Both eyes (different times) vitrectomy! Down to my diabetes mind (and, after recovery, a monthly injection in the eyeball for 3 years!!!)
I've had cataracts done in both eyes. First one went okay with no problems. Second one they didn't put enough anesthetic in and it hurt like bloody hell. Told the surgeon I could feel everything and he had to stop while they put more anaesthetic in. Nightmare.
The anaesthetist apologised after. Good job we don't have 3 eyes because I wouldn't want to have another one done.
