If I remember rightly he was largely unimpressive throughout the 13/14 season and had a very good last few games where he showed he is a capable player, but he's had maybe 10 good games in his 2 years with the club, yes he's been injured and might have needed time to adjust in his first season but eve so I would say that to this point he has been a bit of a flop considering the player we thought we were getting (Italian international winger from Juventus for £6.5 million). I wouldn't say I've written the lad off though, he's obviously a talented player and if he can stay fit he might well prove to be our star player this year

Well you remember very different to me. He was excellent and everybody was raving about how well he and Connor were playing together.

Like I said he's had the game time of 15 full games in his first season. Half of them they excelled. Overseas signing take time to bed in. Sometimes they get injured during that time. Unlucky. Now and again you'll get an overseas players who hit the ground running but for a club of our status more often than not you need to be prepared to give them time. 8 full games isn't many imo but clearly is to long for you to wait for results. It must be very frustrating for you, maybe lower your expectations from foreign signings to avoid further disappointment. Some players need 40-50 full games worth of minutes under their belt before looking very good.

I'm pretty sure Wickham was out on loan for most of that season, though yes they did play well together for the last couple of months of the season, during which time Giacc did look a very decent player. I don't mind foreign lads needing a bit of time to bed in and I think he'd done that judging by the back end of the 2014 season, he has been unlucky with injuries and was probably not used very well by Gus on too many occasions. But if you were to judge his time at sunderland so far I don't see how you can look at it as successful, that's not to say that he can't change that this year with a bit of luck staying clear of injuries.

I'd see it as a good player with long injury spell. Looking forward to seeing him next season as he's probably imo our best player. Hope this window changes that and i'll be very happy.
