Lets just say i am not happy. To sack a manager who has a higher win percentage over fewer games and on a tighter budget and replace him with a failed manager with a lower win % from nearly double the matches is laughable. IF IT 'AINT BROKE, DONE FIX IT!!!!! If this does not work, i will not be shy about voicing my opinion. I feel a banner/sign coming on!
I am surprised we are yet to hear from the club or SD himself about his sacking. Until I hear what actually happened I will not be passing my judgement on this. This story may not be as black and white as a lot of you seem to think it is.
In some other place, I've asserted that the majority of fans are "angry" about Dyche being sacked, but the majority of fans are also "optimistic" about the bigger picture. I'm being attacked for it. Have I stepped through some sort of alternate universe here? From my experience, there are a few people who aren't bothered about Dyche going, but that seems to be to be the general opinion.
I'm not going to plug it BB, but it's one of the bigger Watford forums. In fairness, I didn't put in the sort of caveat that you should (such as saying it was my opinion, or "to me it looks as though"...). Wouldn't want to give a misleading picture and portray myself as a saint in the discussion. I've been my usual robust self. But the point I'm trying to make is that it looks as though people strongly feel sacking Dyche at this point was wrong, even if the Pozzos' man replacing him sooner or later was inevitable.
As an outsider, but someone who valued Dyche's playing and 'never say die' contribution for the Lions, I think this is a very bad move by your club. This season Watford played Millwall off the park at the Den and played like the Lions should have done. As it was his first management appointment, Dyche pulled up trees for you guys. He made Watford punch consistently above their weight. I am sure he will thrive in a similar club - and beware whatever future fixture you have against him. Zola will have a mountain to climb to first of all win the team over. He'll need all his Italian charm to do it. and if the results go against you..... I hope you don't do another Blackburn
Sorry NNW but you are flogging a dead horse with some of them. A bit like asking for a glass of Bordeaux in a greasy spoon.
we all agree with you i think..that this was a bad decision...and that, with Dyche, we had someone who knew club, players and championship and had the team and fans behind him all the way. Zola will indeed have a mountain to climb, i hope he's got good walking boots! However, i can't see us doing a Blackburn, our owners are not like their owners...from the little i know...and if Zola doesn't cut it, he won't get too many second chances...
I am with you all the way NNW. I have not spoken to 1 Watford supporter who thinks that sacking SD is a good thing, whilst most see the Pozzo's as a positive move. But with no formal announcement, I am still clinging onto the small piece of flotsam of hope that I have that SD is still in the running to keep his job - no doubt my hope will be dashed on the rocks as usual.
I wouldn't say I am 'angry' that SD was sacked, but certainly am disappointed. He deserved a crack with some real support behind him... andI wish him all the best for the future. I hope he succeeds with his next club, and he has left with a very good reputation! Maybe more so than if had stayed here another 6 months and struggled with expectation on the team I also hope the fans give Zola a chance too. Wanting GZ or SD to succeed are not mutually exclusive, I hope they both do very well in their new jobs (this is assuming Zola does arrive here). As for the owners, they may be media shy, but it seems they prefer to make annoucements once something had actually happened, and with careful consideration. I'd suggest the Dyche announcement will be at the same time as the new manager is introduced, and fully expect glowing praise of Sean from them!
Very very strange that no statement from the club or interview from Sean. Could it be that he is part of the picture in a different role? Why hasn't Zola been announced and started forming things up if its a done deal? Lots of questions for now.
Waiting for next edition of watford observeer day for lots of announcements .......(well I can live in hope).
