Just provide him a regular supply of Guinness and he'll stay fit as a fiddle!

Good to add a bit of steel to our squad for the Championship campaign. In games I've seen him play, he always seemed very determined and right in the mix marking his man, hence the unfortunate og's, compared to our lot, often not even marking their man. I think he will give us 100%, compared to some of our current shysters. By the law of averages, perhaps his og days are over.

Are we sure we've signed Richard Dunne, it looks a little like Finglas to me.

In my defence I've not seen Finglas for a while now.....

the one thing you can about dunne he's passionate about the game. that's the only thing we want. someone who gives a **** when he plays. lets hope his injury woes are behind him.

He's the best CB we have signed bar none in the last 15 odd years. He is immense on the pitch. He will be a fans favourite within weeks. I hope to buck he stays fit. I'm thrilled. The deal is perfect for us. He plays he gets paid, he falls apart and the contract can be cancelled. It's a no brainer. Anybody who doesn't rate him has obviously not seen him play in the flesh. He will bleed for us. He will bust a gut every game because that's the type of player he is. He has played in world cups, euros and at the top of the Prem for his full career. How some people don't see this as an excellent signing is beyond me.

He will make an excellent captain.

    Just back from France

    actually pleased about this

FLYER....Ned and Richard Dunne....means no Anton!!!!! (hurrah).............................good (Hill is so much more the player on the bench)
    Great shirt...I agree
Yes he looks a little like Finglas....and if he cares about QPR 10% as much as Finglas does we are on to a winner

Sensible signing..as long as he doesn't get a coaching job in January

Own goals and an impressive red card collection - he'll fit right in! ;)

A competitor and a leader though and the terms are decent (ie a one year deal).

To make this worthwhile, we need to get some youth in to learn from these wise heads (and reduce the need for another overhaul next Summer).

You know, criticism on this board is sometimes totally weird and wrong. Sometimes people find ways of even criticising great players. Maybe it's a safety mechanism so that if the players turns to **** suddenly at qpr they won't get upset or can tell everyone they told them so.

Have to say i think its a good signing. Bit of bite at the CB position and put him alongside Onuha in a mentoring role & we'll be just fine.
Would like to see either him or Clint, not both together.
This is what we need for this position and it mirrors the post i made about age and experience in certain positions.
Keep Jenas in the CM spot and AJ/BZ at CF the fill all the other positions with mobile willing a possibly younger players & we should be ok.
His signing should help out our GK as well...either that or he'll keep him busy.

Nuts, you're not trying o convince us that he's better than Anton are you?...That'll be a hard sell <laugh>

Thanks for the comparisons lads and lassies. I suppose we do look a little alike. As I am a fair bit older, I will take the comparisons as a compliment. Cheers.

As it happens, he is from Tallaght in South West Dublin and I am 10 miles away in North West Dublin. Robbie Keane and Damien Duff are local lads to his area and David O'Leary and Liam Brady are from quite close to me.

As regards his signing, I am not too unhappy. I like him as a player (if fit) but I feel our squad is too old as it is and that we need more younger players. If it doesn't work out for him and us, I won't jump on the "I told you so" bandwagon. I hope he is a success.

That reminds me of Basil Fawlty talking about Manuel - "I'm so sorry, he's from Barcelona".

Only bad news. What do we need another way past it CB for? To give us experience and solidity we already got Clint, we don't need more of the same.
