i dont get chuckles on this one - is he worried that a pile of rangers fans DO go to the game and that the support is seen as divided?

is he worried us dirty taigs buy tickets and pretend to be bears?

loads of clubs sell tickets direct to away supporters - i just got 6 for the away end at dens for boxing day straight from dundee

whats the issue?

I honestly don't think he cares Simon. This has worked out pretty well for him.

Charlie's boycott further enhances his stature with die hard bears by showing a proactive stance regarding events before his tenure. He gets to wind up Dundee United's slightly idiotic chairman via the media to the delight of the aforementioned bears. He gets the club all over the papers again and garners more publicity about folk not going to a game than most SPL clubs obtain for actually playing games.

Charles also gets the chance to play silly buggers with the SFA who have to back his stance because of "the rules". This again reinforces his standing with our fans because of last seasons events. He says he's giving the money to charity which for me was the funniest bit about all this. His altruistic get it right up yeez gesture was actually pretty astute.

Of course there is also the fact that all of this has now overshadowed the game itself which also helps him in terms of the result. If we lose it's a moral victory because we had no fans there. If we win it's a resounding triumph because of the lack of support.

Chuck's not daft.

Happy Xmas Simon.

I see this in work all the time, one of the first and most child like things a human does when he makes a big cock up is look around for someone or something else to blame for the mess. In the case of Rangers fans it moved from Craig Whyte and David Murray to Dundee United's fault.

I thought green would have grasped the basic tenets of capitalism, he is after all a yorkshireman with god-given big hands made for grabbing money - according to himself.....seems somewhat hypocritical for him to think someone else shouldnt do exactly the same.

...which is also a basic tenet of Capitalism. <ok>

Because no one likes us.

We don't care.
