I think people overrate him on this. It took him about eight years to get Sheffield Utd up, he didn't manage to do it with Palace (under admittedly difficult conditions) and QPR, let's face, bought their way to promotion (I knew we tried it too, but they at least had a manager that knows this league). He may get Leeds up into contention eventually, but I don't see it happen until they get rid of Bates. It sometimes takes more than just a good manager (as you found out when you had Pearson), and I'm not even sure Warnock is that. I wouldn't want him at Leicester that's for sure. And not just because he's a twat either.
I wouldnt want him at Leicester BECAUSE he is a twat ! Besides, we have probably the best manager outside of the Premiership in English football.
Keeping the ball out of the net isn't enough in this league. We should know, we had the best defence in the division (or something close to it) yet got relegated because we had a strikeforce of Ian Hume and Matty Fryatt. If Brighton are going to make me change my mind then they have to start creating and taking chances.
.. actually, given your habit of very literal interpretation, it is not only 'priceless' but also currently fact ..i.e judging by the league table Nigel Pearson is currently the 'best manager outside the Premiership' - Malky Mackay is a close second ... I'll leave you to work the others out .. should occupy you until the lunch bell goes ...
I agree with Gangsta/AKCJ. I don't think Brighton will finish in the top 6. They don't score enough goals, and I really don't rate Craig Mackail-Smith to be honest. He works hard, sure, but will never score enough goals to get them promoted. And who else do they have up front? As for Leeds, that's a tough one, I think Warnock is a very good manager in this league and thought he would do well, but they seem to have started slowly. Maybe it'll just take time for him to build his squad (i.e sign Clint Hill...) It is a little early for predictions though, we haven't even had the January transfer window yet, anything can happen...
Theres no reason the table shouldn't finish how it currently stands But seriously, think Palace may fall a few places, its unlike them to keep up form, the ones to watch this year look like Middlesbrough, cause if we hadn't beaten them, they would be 2nd. Wolves i think will do what WHU did last year with Ebanks-blake rather than Cole. Only club i can see falling out of the top 6 is Palace, possibly Blackburn as it seems no-one wants to manage them, they will haveto settle with Paul Jewell. So i see 2 places up for grabs, not 5th and 6th place, i mean generally in the top 6.
If Palace sell Zaha in January they will have lost a talismanic talent so you'd expect them to be weaker - unless they re-invest and unearth a couple of gems - will be good to get a look at Zaha this weekend (unless he is still banned?)
Palace are apparently going to cash in on Zaha, it's one of the reasons Freedman decided to move on(that and the doubling of his salary, obviously).
If they spend the money wisely they could be stronger for it. They could unearth someone like Anthony Knockaert
Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuume I loved Hume when he was here and actually I thought he was a decent player. After his injury he doesn't seem to be the same player. He is now out on loan at Doncaster
thats bollocks there could be better managers in the lower leagues its a question you can never answer
Dear Fetid the stinker .. it was meant to be ironic .. read the whole post properly - it' is aimed at Charlie's mentality first and foremost ... could only be taken seriously by .... oh dear ....
Actually P Diddy is MY bitch. And your mum said if you call her P Diddy again, you'll be grounded for one week.
