Duffen right as usual.

I know I look biased because me and Paul are mates, but can anyone honestly say they've had a more enjoyable time as a City fan than Duffen's reign? I doubt it.

It's a shame there isn't a smiley for brown nosing! In the calender year of 2008 it was certainly my most enjoyable time as a city fan, a time which i hope will be repeated soon. But for most Duffen's time here will be equally remembered for the reaching of the stars that catastrophically failed. It's a stupid comment to come from Duffen as i said in my previous post. I also thought Jewell got the best out of JB, so why throw him into the equation? The bloke is looking more and more of a muppet the more stuff he comes out with. You claim to be intelligent Percy, surely you can see that this post from PD is utter ****e? Or will he fall out with you if you disagree with him?!

Jewell, Hodgson and Brown all got the best out of Bullard. Pearson didn't.

How is that comment stupid? Other than the fact that you don't like Duffen.

I'd question that Brown got the best out of Bullard, seeing as the club took a nose-dive as soon as he signed and he didn't really do much to save us when he was fit and playing, take off the rose-tinted specs and face facts Percy about your heroes

Can't argue with Premier League Player of the Month. Admiitedly Brown didn't have the chance to get the best out of him for long. I still don't think he was fully fit when he came back for us at the end of the relegation season, and whoever made the call for him to come back when he did, whether it be him, Brown or somebody else, made the wrong call.

Not read the Duffen stuff that’s being discussed here. I have no time for the man who mishandled what was dear to us all.

Phil Brown is another story in my eyes. It is always the way when failure finally occurs that achievements are forgotten and blunders are highlighted. Not just in football but throughout history. However in football it is the common thread that flows down the years.

I won’t for a minute suggest that PB is fit to lick say Bobby Robson’s boots but what happened to Bobby by Newcastle was shameful, and there are lots of other examples. Clubs have to move on and Chairmen do what they do often without a second thought in an attempt to placate fans and keep their jobs.

But surely fans should not forget the achievements gained in their name, which allowed them to strut about and puff out their chests at Wembley, Emirates, Anfield, and Old Trafford etc., and point to 3rd PL place in October. Certainly not from a club like Hull City whose previous long list of managers never got them so far so fast.

He got things very wrong at the end and had his players not performing for him; so fair enough, but that doesn’t distract from what he gave us after waiting so long. And he doesn’t deserve snide comments about “ego” as if that was punishable by death. Self importance is a defect but a minor one if it gets us a couple of years in the PL.

Yes PB had character defects, (as most achievers do) so if you want a manager with no character defects who gets the club a run of results that stuns football you may have to wait a long time. Good luck with that.

Jimmy was in the team at the end of the relegation season and had a minimal impact on us staying up when we needed him, nice honour for him Premiership player of the month, one month of good football is not really worth the millions he's been paid for us at the end of the day.

He's right that Brownie was a good man manager? Either you've got selective amnesia, or you just make **** up.

    Just a reminder of some of Duffen's deals - £3m and £26k a week for Oli - 19 league appearances, £5m and £45k a week for Bullard - 23 league appearances, £1.7m and £20k a week for Ghilas - 13 league appearances, £2m and £20k a week for Halmosi - 18 league appearances, £28k a week for Sonko, £26k a week for Kilbane, £24k a week for McShane etc etc

Who do you blame for the players that we signed on massive money, but barely played?

Do you blame Duffen, for giving mediocre players massive contracts?

Or do you blame Brownie, for selecting players that weren't up to the job, then not playing them despite their massive cost to the club?

Or do you blame Pearson, just because his name's Pearson?

Reading the comments from a few years ago and comparing it to now - and I honestly think the next few seasons are going to prove Bruce as the best manager we've ever had and atm we don't have a player who is seeming to be Bullard mark 2. We all know that certain posters dislike/hate certain people who've been at the club in the past (TWF - any Pearson, OLM - Duffen, any poster bar me -Dowie), but hopefully that has changed and we can just enjoy the season

Using the costs in OLM's post above, we spent a total of £11,700,000 in transfer fees and £111,000 a week in wages on Olofinjana, Bullard, Ghilas and Halmosi to make an average of 18 appearances between them, the highest being Bullards 23 apps and the lowest being Ghilas' 13 apps at the date OLM made that post.

Excluding Bullard (as he was certainly first team material but unlucky with injuries) but including the others he mentioned, we spent £6,700,000 (£8,200,000 if McShane counted as £1.5mil in the Turner deal) and £144,000 per week on wages for player who were not first team material, specially at the time of signing each of them in the premier league.

    That's frightening, and extremely careless.
