My favourite player. Met Gerry Gow at the Three Lions in 2009 when the supporters trust were trying to organise a testimonial for him. Very surprised how really shy and quiet he was.

I think a lot of ex players are surprised at the regard that they are still held in many years after they have stopped playing. I am in touch with Robbie Turner, who was only with us for a short time but still in awe of the regard that he is held in by many fans, especially given his gas connection.

For all of his fearsome reputation on the pitch, Norman Hunter was exactly the same. Had the pleasure of working next door to him as a teenager when he had a sports shop in Bristol during his time with us, and a nicer, quieter and more gentle bloke you couldn't wish to meet.

    Spot on Angelic.
On of the most humble men I've ever met. I blamed Shilton more than him for that 'goal', he wouldn't have any of it. Even when I reminded him the reason he played that night - Moore's performance in the away leg responsible for 2 goals.
That night I met Norm I also met Geoff Merrick, all I'll say they were totally different people.

As was Dicky Rooks who came to our local Cub pack a few times for football training. One of the ones like Brian Drysdale who lived in Stockwood.

Mine arrived today, so far so very good.

The foreward by Jonathon Pearce is brilliant already heart rending, I never realised how close they were.

I’m sorry to say that I never met any of those legends.
