Drogba testimonial ??

In the past it was a tradition to give all great servants of the club who had done 10 years service,a testimonial match against specially selected opponents! The gate receipts were gifted to the player, who in those days, did not recieve the lavish income they do now, but more importantly it was a chance for the fans to say a proper goodbye to a great servant of the club!
I know Drogs only did 8 years, but it would have been great for us to have had the chance to say a proper goodbye at the Bridge, and as far as the gate receips were concerned, given to one of the charities that Drogs works hard to support!

It would be a crime if he never had a testimonial match, it would be a fantastic occasion just think if we could get some of our past greats Zola, Guilit, Poyet. flo,Gudjohnson,Wise'y, Le bouf,Dessaily etc,etc all playing one last match at the bridge in honour of the Drog, wow !!!!!!!! what a night that would be plus all the gate reciepts could go too a charity ie the CFCDEANFOUNDATION <party>

Thats the kind of side it would be great to watch Dean! Not sure about your charity suggestion though! I reckon we could get close to full house for that lkind of match!

I'm half inclined to write to the club and suggest it!

Defo get a full house could even ask Abramovich to get his daisies on along with RDM, would love to see that

Do it BM2, and see if you can arrange it for July /August when I'm visiting London !!!
 
Blues---I've done what you've asked! The club have recieved a lengthy piece from me on the subject of a testimonial! It's receipt, says that I will get a reply as soon as possible, but with the long bank holiday, getting in the way, I cant see it coming soon! Whatever, I will give you the full story when it finally arrives! Watch this space!
 
Its a great idea and Didier certainly deserves it, possibly try and arrange it for against Marseille? Proceeds to Didier Drogba Foundation of course.
Regarding only playing 8 years, Zola had a testimonal when he left and he'd only been with us 7 seasons so that shouldn't be a problem.
 
I hadn't realised that bit about Zola--blueboy! Lets wait to hear what the club have to say in response to my letter!
 
For those that are interested I have recieved a reply to my letter viz:-

" Dear Bluemoon2,

Thank you etc

Due to the Summer Tour in America and also the Euro 2012, such an event would probably not be possible to stage,however we will pass your suggestion on to the relevant department.

Thank you for your support of Chelsea Football Club

Yours..."

So its not a definite No just yet!
