You say : Hamilton in the same car was (more error prone but) much quicker than Button in the early laps. But thats been the noticed start to most races. Hamilton goes off charging - Button is executing a tyre management strategy. that doesn't mean Button is any slower a driver.
Button and Hamilton have different ways of achieving the same goal. Buttons way is working better this year
I think it is harsh saying Button "took out" Hamilton and Alonso. In the Hamilton incident, Hamilton was faster at that time and went for a gap that was closing, Button obviously could not see him because of the spray and just drove on the normal racing line; pretty much just a racing incident. The Alonso contact again was just racing, Button was faster, got level with Alonso and had the inside line, Alonso did not want to yeild and they touched with Alonso being unlucky to get beached on a kerb.
The Alonso-Button incident was a bit like the Massa-Ham incident in India. The Button-Hamilton incident was a bit like the Hamilton-Kobi incident in Spa. In that sense the stewards were at least consistent Was a good race from Button no doubt, but was it a hollow victory like Hamiltons in Abu Dhabi? I'm taking the mick btw
I won't rise to it - for I am lucky I guess, I have no special view of any one driver. I just hope that they all can give of their best and we get the exciting race to watch. It is a bit harder to ignore irrational criticism its true.
Decided the Buttons drive in Canada probably was the best of the season in my eyes. Had a think and tbh nothing else really stands up against it.
Anyway - a good article from Eternal, frank exchange of views - not too heated (!). More of these thought provoking ones, please.
A topic like this is obviously going to be very opinionated. I find the best arguments are the simplest ones and I hope topics like this can effect peoples views.
Jenson Button's drive at Montreal for sure was the best of the year Closely followed Lewis's drive in Germany. It was faultless all weekend, got more out of the car then Jenson, Pulled out a cracking overtake on Fernando and only made 1 real mistake(Going wide at Chicane letting Webber through but re taking Webber on straight).
I made this thread to let you guys enjoy debating about a more thought-provoking topic "drives of the season". No serious stuff has occurred. And because of that you win my applaud, it has turned out a-okay As for Miggins: pffft
Vettel, Monaco, he made those tyres go long on a track that demands so much grip. JB, Canada was also great to come from the back. Funny thing is that both victories were helped heavily by safety cars and red flags.
Tell you what wasn't drive of the season: Robert Kubica at the Ronde di Andora rally. He wasn't so handy behind the wheel that day.
Just ignore it, tight bastard. It's people like that we have to debate with, something I am going to stop doing.
