Tudor Hall, or 'the cattle market' as we used to call it <laugh>

Other night clubs we used to frequent were; Samson & Hercules, Penny's, Rick's Place, Ebeneezers and sometimes (believe it or not), the Norwood Rooms <doh>

On Friday's and Saturday's we all used to meet at the 'Hog in Armour' then hit the City pubs before finishing up at one of the above. Then we would invariably get a burger at the 'King Beefy' van opposite 'The Bell' (another frequent watering hole). Then of course, when you would eventually get to bed, the room would start to spin and the only thing that would stop that was a 'groan down the white telephione' , happy days <laugh>

Those greasy burgers were the greatest meal on earth. Sometimes we'd pop down to Soon Chows on PoW Rd for a feast, if we were feeling flush.
What was the best Chippy, Burger Van and Chinkie in those days?

We loved the Dinner Dances at the Norwood Rooms. Dressed up in your new Whistle and Flute from Jacksons the Tailors. Drinks first followed by Duck a l'Orange, Cheese and biscuits followed by Rum and Blacks. Then Bacon and Eggs at midnight. Taxi home and hope there's enough in your tank to fire your leg over. Somebody invent a bloody time machine!

Yes both great pubs, I lived about 5 doors down from the Alex.

I grew up on Heigham Road and so was regularly in both the Belle Vue and the Alex. Played football for the Pickwick for a couple of years. Remember going to the York Tavern from time to time. Also used to drink in the Reindeer and the Black Horse.

Most regular in the city were the Wild Man, The Walnut Tree Shades or The Murderers. La Ruen was great too. The Hog in Armour was difficult to pass on the way in too and of course The Festival House. With Sam's upstairs the whole night just used to disapear in the 'The Fezzy'.
