My own experience with beer and football in pubs is that I tend to get showered by somebodies pint quite a lot of the time, don't fancy that at the match itself

Imagine the coppers and stewards running about madly, worrying about the fans creating full stand length beer snakes. They can't even handle people standing up, let alone enjoying themselves.

There's more chance of Deano scoring the winner for us in the play off's this year than it happening.

Although Deano scoring the winner after a cheeky on pitch beer after it has been legalised...

    no - wont go there!

I enjoy a pint as much as anyone, but from my experience with drinking at rugby in all seater stadiums it just doesn't work. People just spend the whole game going backwards and forwards to the bar or for a piss. The season FC allowed it (2010 I think) I remember counting that I stood up 12 times in the first half of one game for people going backwards and forwards.

In terraces it's fine, but when it's seated then it just doesn't work.

Leave the beer in the pumps for me. Football is football and the beer can wait. It is indeed a sad person who needs to drink during games.

    People can't be trusted.

The only way I'd agree with it is if they raise the ticket prices. Keep the riff raff out.

I employed a German(Frankfurt fan) and he said drinking at matches was becoming an increasing problem. It seems the German Interior Minister agrees with him...

How many games have you been to in Germany? I've been to three and many of the fans could barely stand up and it kicked off outside at two of the games, they definitely have a problem.

Can't they just sell the back pack?

Couple it up to the catheter and it solves this problem people seem to have with others moving.<ok>

Anyone who is prepared to campaign for the right to drink beer out of plastic glasses is a ****; or a piss-head no-mark from Goole, allegedly :emoticon-0103-cool:

This beer railway that Spanner mentioned is quite interesting too, maybe after they sent the hotdogs and beers on it they could send empty bottles back for you to piss into, or put yours onto it readymade

Drinking during AFL matches over here, drinking is allowed and doesn't seem to cause too many problems (although games are not what you'd call fight free), but I accept that the supporting culture is quite different. Re , the comments made about the cricket - I attended a T20 game between Yorkshire and Lancashire at Headingley a couple of years ago and agree that it was more about drinking than cricket but found it pretty entertaining and good humoured. The most amusing part was watching the stewards become increasingly frustrated and the police become increasingly bored.
