No need to apologize H. Up to a certain time we all thought that we were debating a possible ban from our board - and the implications of Rollercoaster's contribution were not immediately clear, as not many of us knew that a QPR ban automatically extended to the whole site. After that brb's initially dictatorial tone ruffled more than a few feathers and things then went from bad to worse. At least we all know a little bit more about the hierarchical structures of the site now and, maybe, the powers that be will realise that more transparency is needed in the future.
As this thread is an "apology" and an attempt to pour oil on troubled waters I shall be brief in my comments. 1 I dropped out of the debate as I was upset by brb. I will respect H's intentions and therefore say no more about my opinions in that respect other than to say it is Hornets' opinions on this topic that I value - not outsiders 2 I do not believe H has anything to apolgise for - she was moderating FOR the Watford board - her job imho 3 I think Minxy was trying to be helpful but that it backfired on her and she was chivalrous in her defense of brb. 4 I think despite the high levels of acrimony that arose, the behaviour of the Watford posters was mostly excellent 5 I was surprised not to hear BHD's views as a Mod on the subject - I may have missed them or perhaps he maintained a diplomatic silence 6 I am disappointed by the outcome. 7 I am reminded that at some stage there were alternative sites set up to replace BBC606. I assume these all failed which perhaps says something positive about this site. Hopefully the subject is now closed and we can move on to looking forward to the start of the season - for those in the WPL - you have only just over a week to predict the first week's scores
It's getting to be a very long line, alas. An observation, that's all. Time to lock this thread too, methinks.
Can we not just let it die of its own accord? I hate threads being locked. If someone has something to say - let them say it - lock this and the comments people want to make will spring up elsewhere. I suspect this thread will not attract much more comment whatever so let us let democracy rather than authoritarianism rule.
Exactly - Democracy rules o.k. Up to now I had always thought that supermods were people poncing around the Kings Road in the mid 60s - bring back the rockers I say !
Mods were always bettewr than Rockers - but Norway would not agree (actually nor would I when it comes to music )
I thought Leonardo's comments on the behaviour of Watford fans and Minxy were perfectly justified. BrB became quite abusive and personal - it says a lot about people like Hornette, Cologne and OFH that they continued to discuss the issue without responding in kind. Our board might not be to everyones taste but the level of respect and manners on here takes some beating.
I came across this on the Gillingham board from 2 days ago. 1. No racism, abuse, threats, porn, including scantly clad females. 2. No swearing. 3. No abuse of the administration team. 4. No anti Scally campaigns - find another site if you are that way inclined...i think there is a fb page somewhere. 5. No promoting of other sites, accept for exclusives or source of information in immediate interest to members. 6. No spamming, no dodgy links, no university surveys this list is non exhaustive. 7. No GC content, if you visit this dark side of the site you do so at your own discretion. It is unsuitable for work and certainly unsuitable for viewing in front of young people. 8. Do not feed the wums, if the admin team is not on site. 9. I'm sure there is something i have missed. 10. There always has to be a 1-10. It was posted by brb, who was abusive to me following some comments about the supermods going back on their word. Someone removed the comments from him, don't know who, but as he wanted to be transparent and was fed up with having decisions questioned he was giving up his position. Can I please be told so as to put the issue to bed that he has given up and who has taken on the role. Don't wish to fall foul of another super person.
OFH ...... Brb & I have asked Mick the site owner to read through all the threads & give us his opinion which we are waiting for. I can confirm that I have asked to step down & have been asked to reconsider. I cannot comment for brb, other than to say he lost his cool with both yourself & dave ..... so I deleted some posts as it was totally out of character for him. ..... For which he thanked me when he had had a chance to cool down Watford fans may not agree with me but I would say in all the time I have worked with brb he has been a very good super mod ..... Doing hours of unseen work to keep Not606 running smoothly When a decision has been made re: super mods it will be published on the mod forum .... Whether mods then pass messages on to their own posters is up to them Can I just also say while I am here ..... I put a racist u tube clip that Gimme had posted & I had deleted on the mods forum for a short while & all the mods who viewed it agreed it was racist propaganda which had no place on our site. I see this information has not been fed back to the Watford posters
Thank you for responding Minxy. I wasn't trying to re-open the debate, just wondered about who the supermods were now. It seems to me that brb might work hard on the site, but perhaps he shouldn't take offence when people query what he is doing. He has said that he has stood down from the post, which seemed fair enough, but now it sounds like he wants to go back on that as well. Heat of the moment? Not a reasonable excuse when what you say is put up for all to read, then has to be taken down. Why only publish results on the mods forum? This is a whole site issue where everyone should get to know who is making up the rules. I never actually noticed the clip that you refer to. Maybe it wasn't put on the Watford board, which would explain why it was not mentioned.
good luck getting a response from Mick, firstly he is on holiday and secondly he is a lazy bastard and will no way read through all the threads, he is never sober long enough to do that, if you want a valued opinion get Edge to look into it for you.
OFH I am slightly lost here. Are you suggesting that when I stand down I should post on every board on the site to let them know, when most people posting don't care either who owns it or who the super mods are? I would be told to f*** off by some ..... that they couldn't give a ****, what I was & wasn't doing. That I wasn't needed on their board as they have their on mods. brb wrote to Mick explaining the whole situation & Mick has asked us both to reconsider. As far as I am aware brb has not yet decided either way. If we both stopped super-modding today with no replacements in place the site would suffer very quickly with posters who need banning remaining unbanned & spammers who we tend to cut off at registration having a field day on the boards (they come in usually in batches of 20+, esp at the weekends) This necessitates one of us looking through all new registrations & identifying all the iffy ones. If the new super-mod(s) like me was unsure of how to work the control board who would teach them, if both of us just walked away. I am amazed that you feel able to challenge brb about saying something in the heat of the moment as if this is some unforgivable sin. I wish I was that perfect. If you took the amount of flack that super-mods get, I think you would understand why we occasionally reach the end of our tether. As for publishing the Gills rules on here .... why do that ..... surely it is the Watford rules you need to look at. If brb broke one of your board rules then your mods could easily have deleted the post & had a private PM to him about it (copied to Mick is necessary). That is how I would have dealt with the situation had it happened on my board.
