The problem the labour party have is they have demanded transparency at every sniff of tory naughtiness, and there has been mountains of that. That moral high ground is always nice and solid, until somebody spills something when you are stood on it. Maybe Keir would welcome some misdemeanour so he can get rid of her, I doubt they are the best of teammates, and lets be honest it would take a hell of a lot more than this to put a tiny dent in their upcoming election majority. Keir can't get rid of her, it's a position filled by an election of members. I get the feeling she's unwittingly dropped a bollock, she'd be better off just admitting it and apologising. Can't imagine Starmer is happy but TBH there's nothing he can do about it.

One of the things that really frustrates me these days is the absolute reluctance of politicians to just hold their hands up, say they got it wrong, and apologise. We should all be able to then move on unless of course it's not a minor transgression. I haven't got a Scooby about Reynor's tax affairs, but given she hasn't just made a clear statement that clears things up there will remain a whiff about this that the right wing media will continue to exploit. My guess is she's made an honest mistake, something I probably would have done in the same circumstances.
Aye, politicians in general just don’t seem to be able to do the obvious thing. You must literally need no qualifications to be a political advisor or work in the media department.

You don't need any qualifications to be an MP either mate,not even to have a basic common decency,which is one of the many problems we have. Just to say,the tax system is unimaginably and needlessly highly complicated,so,if these so-called modern MP's can't stay the right side of it, they have it within their power to simplify it.

I read it with a growing lump in my throat, I was made redundant in 1980 from Ransome Hoffman and Pollard when they closed the factory, just after the birth of my first child and 5 years into a mortgage. At the same time the other two large employers in the area, Consett Steel Works and Eveready closed or made massive redundancies, throwing more people out of work. It devastated the communities in a mirror image of that article, I was on the dole for 18 months, every day on shanks' pony knocking on the doors of every small and medium employer within 10 miles of my home and writing to ones further away, within travelling distance. I never got a sniff of a job because the unemployed rate in Derwentside, were I lived, was for a period 77% and 75% of manufacturing jobs had been lost since 1979, no one was employing. I was forced to move out of area and take a job which I had 32 years brilliant service before retiring. I return "home" quite often to have a drink with mates and family and to date there is little sign of complete recovery.
