You don't. I don't think it's acceptable for them to lie ... ... it's up to us what we believe. In the House of Commons there must be a zero tolerance on lying otherwise we can't trust the word of the PM, the government or any of the MPs ... ... and that's anarchy.
Good post. It’s a really complex problem . People migrate after natural disasters, increasing numbers caused by climate change with more expected, many by civil war some of which are due to conflicts related to oil, western foreign policy etc Some because of poverty and real poverty not can’t afford to get my my nails done poverty - no heat, no food so they work and wire money back. Obviously some related to laws that ban being gay or are former government members after coups, or are fleeing forced marriage (even in Christian countries). Then there are of course others who just hope for opportunity which doesn’t exist because of the rules and delays. Stopping small boats thorough advertising is a joke. Not realistic. Simplistic response from simplistic people. Stop making countries poor through exploitation, fair trade, resolve conflicts, foreign aid diplomacy - everything the current incumbents are **** at and it’s only looking mildly better from the next.
Manifesto pledges in particular should be legally binding. We're big fans of inquiries when it suits, so unfulfilled pledges should be subject to them.
Agree with all of this. Diplomacy particularly under the current govt seems a skills gap. I would hope we can get a more balanced conversation on immigration going forward but that can only happen when we accept the factors driving peoples desperation to come here, which are as you list.

On this subject I still find it incredible that the opposition (or anyone I assume) cannot accuse the prime minister of lying while in the commons or you will be asked to leave. Even when it is absolutely true. It’s a complete joke and shows that lying to the public is accepted in government.
The answer seems to be 'boys will be boys' or 'that's just Boris' ... ... as if he's a loveable little scamp who nicked an extra gingernut from the biscuit barrel. The hospital promise was a massive lie as the words tripped off his tongue. He just doesn't care about anything but himself, certainly not those he considers beneath him ... ... which, in his case, is everyone.

While its incumbent on the 'developed' nations to do as much as they can to help bring the standards of living in the 'undeveloped' nations up to a comparable standard, it is also the responsibility of the people in power in those 'undeveloped' nations to help their own population. I was talking to a cab driver when I was in the States recently. He was from Nigeria. He was a nice bloke but he was getting very angry about the levels of government corruption in Nigeria and the way that those in power channel money away from the country to their private bank accounts in Switzerland and to their investments in Real Estate in Dubai. He said what with that and Boko Haram causing problems in the north of the country, Nigeria is a **** place to live at the moment. When, with its natural resources, it should be amazing. Of his 23 (!!) siblings, he said around half live either in the States or the UK and he was worried about one of his sisters who lives in northern Nigeria due to the problems there. There is very little that the 'West' can do about the problems that that fella described. Perhaps other than stage a coup to depose the corrupt government, but then that would be seen as 'Western Imperialism'. Aid would just be swallowed up by the corrupt officials. What we can do is accept migrants. Its what we've always done. People have been migrating to the British Isles since the Palaeolithic and, I'm sure, will continue to do so for several more thousand years at least. The people who don't like migration don't like it because they think that their culture will be eroded or removed. It won't, of course, that's nonsense. But there is this attitude in some quarters that being British is bad, that being proud of being British is bad, and that expressing that is akin to racism. That's nonsense too. Maybe if we stop telling people that, and remind them that accepting migrants is a truly British thing to do, politicians won't need to win their approval by telling them that they'll stop migration.
Aye you’re right on this. I think a sticking point is human and British responsibility to share its burden of supporting a person unlucky enough to have the wrong sexuality, family birth name, religion, gender, hunger or whatever it is. I think the gap is now some seeing at is ‘their problem’ because they are not born British and some see it as the right thing to do wherever they are born. Unfortunately this crowd are not willing to support things like the UN and it’s statutes who are actually there to try and manage some of this.
I wonder if the Torygraph ( who are I believe now owned by a Lloyd's? and have to be sold) are upset that Bonko has gone to the Daily Heil? Although I think I read that rag may buy the Torygraph and/or the spectator? I hope the Heil has plenty of funds, think if the lies and labels Bonko will write.
When you go into the acoba documentation online it classes itself as both guidance and rules. I suppose the question is if he tells them where to go, what can they do about it now? There's no chance of him coming back. His commons pass has been revoked. His 115k a year? He's made five million in that time. Would it be a criminal offense?
One of my problems with the BLM kneeling at football matches is how Nigerian players, like Ndidi at Leicester, are straight into it on the back of the murder of one black man in America .... ... yet never protest at the endless murders, by Nigerian policemen, of their own countrymen. They're probably the worst police force in the world. Can anyone explain why they're never mentioned by BLM.
