IMF predicting slowest global economic growth since 90s and might last for 5 years thanks to covid and ukraine war... ...bloody johnson, truss and sunak driving our economy over a cliff again. Its not fair our govt have inflicted these hardships on us.
I am not and will not defend Truss or Johnson. Sunak is doing some things right, but as a party it is too little too late. The narrative on here though has regularly been the tories have ruined our economy and when people have pointed our covid or ukraine they are told the tories just use global issues as an excuse. The global issues do and will continue have an impact. The Labour party will blame brexit, covid, ukraine when they come into power. I will bet my house on that. The tories blamed the global recession and the banking crisis when they took over. A bit of balance is needed is my point.
The woman is deranged, you just have to watch any of her interviews. She is a picnic short of a picnic
That's a bit unfair tbh mate. I'm sure everyone accepts Covid and Putin have caused huge problems, I do .... ... but the government have, too often, blamed them for every problem. The default is all too predictably 'global idsues'. They're totally responsible for some of the mess we're in but just never accept it.
Not just the county mate She cost £2k of my pension pot may not sound a lot to some but it's real for me
Catchier slogans needed, these ones just aren't working ... .. I remember when people, on here, were boasting that the crossings had vitunally stopped after the Rwanda slogan was used "More than 400 people crossed the English Channel in small boats in one day, despite the government's efforts to crackdown on illegal migration. The Home Office confirmed 437 migrants arrived in the UK on Wednesday - the highest number on a single day so far this year, bringing the total number of crossings in 2023 to 4,431. The total number of crossings last year was 45,755."
You and me both mate. I will work a bit longer as a result of it all, no doubt. Looking like I have lost a fair bit on a house as well, which is in part down to the truss / kwarteng experiment.
Wonderful tweet by the Labour party this morning. How low can these political parties really go? The tories spout some utter bile, but it seems Labour simply follow them in and want to outdo them. It is a race to the bottom. Good on John McDonnell for calling it what it is. We really are up **** creek with these two parties being the predominant ones.
Labour - 'we're no better than the Tories, but we aren't the Tories and that's all you need to know/all we're willing to tell you/all we've got/what we're going with'.
Why not go into government with a set of policies you know have been tested with the electorate? It's better than 'here's a policy I thought up on my own and have only ran past people who've never lived in the real world exactly like me who all think it's great. What do you mean ask the people it affects?'
As noggie said in his great post above, once a GE is called, that's when we'll see Labour's manifesto. Not anytime sooner or it will allow people like you to slag it off as lefties gone mad
Aye, you don't get a football manager laying out exactly what his team, formation or tactics are weeks before the game do you? If that is the Tory fan boys only line of defence, then that is desperation.
And any glaring flaws will be too late to fix. 'people like me' are the people needed to win elections. But by all means, let the lefties gone mad call me and the millions like me Tory fan boys because we want something better than the same **** with a different rosette colour. That'll win votes.
24 hours in and still not a word from Starmer on this. I have a pretty low opinion of him but even I didnt expect him to endorse this sort of political campaigning. It is the very sort of thing he has argued against. Seems to undermine so much of what he wants to be seen as and makes him look hypocritical.
