It was a joke, but if you like. It's like watching Connery or Connolly banging on about Scottish independence - that's fine lads, but you won't suffer in the slightest if it's a disaster and you're influencing people who will. It's easy to pontificate about political change from your pile of money.
Tbf marra the majority of these high profile individuals love to be heard,he even phoned the Jeremy vine show yesterday ffs,but I agree it will strike a chord but would of sounded better coming from a loyal taxpayer
If all he wanted was to be heard there are hundreds of other, more glamorous, subjects he could've chosen. This just seems to be someone wondering what on earth is happening to their country ... ... much as I, and many others, are wondering.
Fair enough mate, I just don't remember him being in the news, for anything but his music, for many years ... ... the last time was when he congratulated Boris Johnso for the landslide victory.
I was generalising marra, on the “likes to be heard”as you say he doesn’t normally speak anything political, but boils my piss when tax exiles and tax evaders spout their opinions from a privileged position
To be fair mate, there's quite a few of our posters who are exiles but entitled to give their opinion on the state of the country ... ... and I doubt Rod's avoided more tax than the PM and Tory Party Chairman. The pair of them are absolutely rotten.
There are posters from Scotland, me included, Switzerland, USA, Portugal, etc, there's even weirdos from places like Devon ... ... they're all entitled to an opinion, I my opinion.
Totally agree people are allowed their opinion from all over the world, but if the subject is economics, financial or health services and they are not contributing to the system and in my opinion they are ignored for their hypocrisy
Just to be clear marra, I don’t condemn people for seeking a better life abroad, there is some beautiful countries i would love to live in, the point I’m making is once you have left don’t expect any favourable treatment when you’re spouting opinions on the country you have left, especially for tax reasons
I take your point but I honestly don't believe Rod Stewart is after any favourable treatment ... ... he'll probably lose quite a bit of support from Tories, whether friends or fans.
I have opinions on Russia, everybody has at the moment, but the original point i was making was Rod Stewart having a outspoken opinion on the NHS having previously opted out of contributing to the system for financial gain ,we all pay our taxes marra if we all took the evasive action these individuals took we would be fcuked for good
Sadly the PM, and other Government Ministers, appear quite happy to avoid UK taxes and opt out of the NHS .. ... but you make a decent point tbf.
Voting Tory l would imagine, but l swear it was the night l saw him in Steam Package at the Atalanta Ballroom, Woking and l said that's the first and last time.
