Seems like he has gone after new allegations tipped the balance. Sunak did not know about those, as far as I know. Personally I was never so concerned about the texts to Morton, these new ones are a different kettle of fish. Just an opinion.

    Sunak seemed concerned tbf .....

"Rishi Sunak has called Sir Gavin Williamson's "bullying" messages to a colleague "not acceptable" amid questions over the Cabinet minister's future."

Yep, fair enough. Would they have brought him down without the new allegations? Who knows. Either way, I am glad he is gone as I think he is a serial failure and I dont want him influencing anything in our country to closely.

    No idea mate.

What's really annoying is that Sunak brought him in for his own personal goal of being PM. He didn't think 'who's the very best to bring in for the good of the nation'. It really does stink, so much for integrity, honesty, transparency, etc.

As Eric Morecambe would say 'they know all the right words just not the right order'.

The rotten core of the Tories just summed up perfectly by Gillian Keegan, Education Secretary, on breakfast news. She's just said Gavin Williamson 'did the right thing' by resigning after he was found out ...

... no, the right thing to do is not take the job in the first place when you know what you've done.

I know what you are saying. It would have been good if she had said the useless git should never have been in the cabinet anyway.

Keegan is though one of the several appointments Sunak has made that gives me hope we will see some intelligent policy and decision making that benefits our country. She has what I think is one if the biggest and most important jobs in our country as the after effects of lock downs and the pandemic on kids educatiom is horrific. We need some alternative approaches and she is hopefully the person to do it.

It's the fact that she's praising someone for quitting only when they've been found tbh ...

... she wouldn't criticise Williamson because it would mean questioning Sunak's 'wonderful judgement'.

I'm tired of hearing 'he/she's apologised so we should all move on'.

Moving on seems to mean lying low for a few weeks until you're offered a new job.

    It happens at all levels.
My local parish council (tiny, with about £1500 to spend each year) imploded last year. The meetings got so out of hand that the councillors decided they had to insult a couple of residents in the council minutes. And publish the minutes on the internet. They all resigned shortly after.
I am now a parish councillor and the next meeting is going to be fun. Tin hat on!

I am with you mate. My wife is a teacher and I hear the stories. It is a nightmare situation for teachers and kids to be honest.

A friend in Notts, Sunderland supporter, is management at a large NHS hospital. They've made cut after cut but are now losing nurses/staff because they can't cope with the poor wages, added stress and can earn more money by quitting and coming back with an agency.

A far cry from the PM putting on his fake caring face and applauding the NHS on his doorstep.

It makes me sick just thinking about it.

    Some policies are inane...

The boilers and radiators are not working, so great we may get them replaced in a year or so. As it stands they will replace with gas boilers... this is short sighted, gas is old fuel. The school is a 60s building the main part is two floors with big windows facing south the classrooms in the summer are unbearable. However as it stands unlike if classtooms are too cold, there is no measure for too hot.

We have a pay review in a few weeks, it may mean we cannot increase salaries as we should. We also have a few SEND children and are managing to have a TA assigned to them individually. This is proving very beneficial for at least one of the kids. We might not be able to keep the TAs we have.

The school desperately needs redecoration and damp proofing replastering... no budget for this.

This is the reality of austerity!

The problem with being honest in that way is that he'll probably end up back in cabinet at some point, having 'learned his lesson'. As Mandelson did frequently.
