If Bonko gets enough Bonkoites to support his comeback... he will think he is untouchable and invincible..

    Then what are the odds.

If the current investigation into his lying to parliament doesn't find against, how long before the next one..

He will obviously have a sex scandle and Carrie will skewer him, or the poor unfortunate that attracted his attentions will cry rape..

He will continue to play the fool, knocking kids over playing rugby, slide down something showing his fat arse

He will do some really stupid policy innovation

Fun times ahead and this thread will grow exponentially

All true of course, but the fallout from electing Liz is so bad that I can see why many MP's, particularly those in marginal or recent Labour, seats, might decide it is time to 'think the unthinkable'.
And Boris does have one thing going for him.
Unlike Truss, he has shown that he will appoint people on the basis of what he sees as their abilities.
He appointed Gove, who famously stabbed him in the back previously.
He took in people from all wings of the Party, (or so I read).
He COULD unify The Party and PERHAPS make it look electable again in a year or so's time.

The 'bonus items', are that he remains popular with most of tory voters and has usually looked good when facing up to Sir Kier.

I'm no great Fan of Boris, I think he had fulfilled his usefulness in getting Brexit done, but as I'm only an observer that isn't the point'

I wonder which, IF ANY, of the emerging candidates the Labour Leadership fear?

The problem in my opinion is the lack of choice across the house. I can see very few with the intelligence to lead us. The reality is though it isnt picking one person to do it all that is the decision at hand. It is picking one person who can then pick the best possible team. I dont think, personally, Mordaunt will be picked on her cameo at PMQs, although as she demonstrated she has nothing to fear from Starmer, and that will be important for the next PM. It is like taking chocolate off a baby making him and Reeves and co look clueless, but I wouldnt back all Tory MPs to be able to take the chocolate away.

One thing we clearly need is a shake up of politics in this country. Scrap the Lords. Fewer politicians but more political parties. Pay those in top office, and in advisory positions to top ministers a salary that befits the role and responsibility, but remove the salary for life. Does anyone really think £150k, or whatever it is, gets you the best possible leader of a country? I dread to think what the people in the treasury for example earn, the real policy makers, but you can be sure it isnt enough to attract the sort of economic experts that work at banks. If we seriously want a government that delivers the best we need to pay to get the best. Just my opinion.

Off for more popcorn and waiting for Boris to land back in the UK <laugh>

Boris has his supporters but surely the party can't risk the level of orbit to which his ego would rise to if he was called back -- think it would be dangerously '' everything i say goes ''

I agree mate. I cant see it really, but it is giving me a chuckle seeing people getting hot under collar about it. One of the major challenges for him (apart from the fact he is barmy) is if he is found to have misled parliament he is expected to resign, according to the ministerial code anyway, which everyone seems to follow all the time... imagine him being PM then has to resign and we have another PM gone, or he refuses to resign amd we have weeks of focus on stuff other than running the country. Not worth thinking about is it

    Christian Matheson in big bother.

What is it about politicians acting like horny teenagers around the opposite sex?

If Truss takes the £115k a year for life she will be the biggest crim ever.

    Resigned. Too right.

He allegedly invited her on a private trip abroad and "the invitation was sexually motivated, unwanted, and had placed the complainant under pressure and intimidated her", according to the report.

During a work event outside Parliament, he also "linked arms with her; made personal comments about her appearance while looking at her suggestively; made her hold his hand as they left and insisted on accompanying her to her bus stop; and once there invited her back to his flat, kissed her twice on the forehead and attempted to kiss her on the mouth".

Probably was at Eton, although on reflection Rees Mogg looks more like the receiver than the giver :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Has anyone gotten angry, I really haven't seen it tbh ...

... most are laughing it off because it won't be happening.

What's funny is people believing it will.

More now on Labour's Christian Matheson, who has resigned as an MP after a parliamentary watchdog recommended he be suspended for serious sexual misconduct.

Labour suspended him from the parliamentary party and asked him to step down as MP after two allegations of sexual misconduct were upheld against him.

Plenty of politicians seem a touch angry and embarassed, mock or otherwise. I have seen words like revulsion, catastrophic, unfit, horror, the list goes on. Then we have so called journalists and political commentators writing a range of warnings. I wouldnt predict any outcome with this lot, it probably wont happen, but there does seem and awful lot of people closer to the detail than me worried enough about it happening to think about the 'horrror'.

Awful behaviour, no place for it at all. Are the cops now involved? Throw the book at him.
